Both are free to download. ColorApp sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Midiacode asks for nothing beyond the download.
Midiacode holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ColorApp has 364 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Midiacode's written reviews are positive against 39% of ColorApp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Midiacode ships an update every 4 months, ColorApp every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
