Non-compliant and counterfeit communications cables present serious liability risks and public safety concerns. This app enables you to look up a cable file number (printed on the cable jacket) directly in UL’s Product iQ™ database to validate UL Listings for fire safety compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). A one-time registration (free) is required by UL to check your cable in the database. The next time you access the database, use your established username and password. If your cable has an Intertek/ETL Certification, the app has a link to ETL’s website to search the ETL Listed Mark Directory for your cable certification. The app also provides many tips on how to avoid the huge amount of non-compliant, counterfeit, and under-performing cable currently being sold on the market, the majority of which is being sold via online distributors.
