Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Modern Interval Workout Timer at 100% against Boxing Timer Prof's 32%. Modern Interval Workout Timer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 weeks). Boxing Timer Prof's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (21 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Boxing Timer Prof sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Modern Interval Workout Timer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Boxing Timer Prof holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Boxing Timer Prof has 21 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Boxing Timer Prof's written reviews are positive against 100% of Modern Interval Workout Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Boxing Timer Prof ships an update every 6 weeks, Modern Interval Workout Timer every 4 days. Both last shipped on September 29, 2026.
