Auditory Memory Club is an engaging, evidence-based iPad app designed to strengthen auditory memory, listening, and sequencing skills in children. Developed by licensed and certified speech-language pathologist Barbara Fernandes, M.S., CCC-SLP, the app transforms auditory memory practice into an interactive and motivating experience that supports success in both the classroom and everyday communication. Why Auditory Memory Matters Difficulties with auditory memory can impact a child’s academic performance, language development, and ability to follow directions. Listening carefully, processing spoken information, and remembering what has been heard are essential components of learning (Mense, Debney & Druce, 2006). Auditory Memory Club helps children build these foundational skills through four carefully designed, interactive activities—each targeting a specific aspect of auditory processing and recall. Four Engaging Activities for Stronger Listening Skills 1. I Say, You Do Children listen to spoken directions like “clap your hands” or “pretend you are eating a hamburger,” then complete the task. The app automatically increases complexity as the child demonstrates mastery. 2. What Was That? Players hear an environmental sound such as rain, a horse, or a duck and identify the sound after a short delay—enhancing auditory attention and sound discrimination. 3. Remember for Amber An animated character, Amber, asks the child to remember a series of words. Children recall all the words they heard (order not required), strengthening working memory and auditory retention. 4. Let’s Put It in Order Children hear a list of words and must recall them in the same sequence. As performance improves, the list length increases, building auditory sequencing and short-term memory skills. Each activity begins with a brief, animated introduction to guide the child. Animations can be turned off at any time for older or more independent users. Customizable Learning Experience Every child is unique, and Auditory Memory Club adapts to their needs. • Adjust the recall delay from 1 to 100 seconds • Add background noise to simulate real-world listening environments • Use with one child or multiple players in the same session These flexible options make the app ideal for speech therapy, classroom centers, or at-home practice. Progress Tracking and Reports The built-in Report Center tracks performance and progress over time, providing visual data and progress graphs. Therapists, teachers, and parents can: • View accuracy by session and activity • Print or email detailed progress summaries • Generate certificates of achievement for motivation and celebration Key Features • Four interactive, evidence-based auditory memory activities • Adjustable difficulty and background noise options • Visual and animated supports for engagement • Detailed progress tracking with visual graphs and summaries • Works for individual or group sessions • Printable and shareable progress reports • Available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese Created by Barbara Fernandes, M.S., CCC-SLP, founder of Smarty Ears Apps, and author of more than 50 award-winning speech and language therapy tools, Auditory Memory Club combines clinical expertise, research-based design, and child-friendly interactivity to make language learning effective, measurable, and fun.

FOR BEGINNER READERS-- This Standard version of Buzz 'n' Read teaches reading by using important step-by-step techniques based on the PHONICS and structure of Standard English. Both Buzz 'n' Read apps are designed for children to learn to read by using stories with characters that look and sound like them so they can get excited about reading! This app will help your child to learn to read faster! Buzz ‘n’ Read (Standard/Phonics) focuses on teaching the BASICS OF PHONICS so that your child can learn to read by decoding letters rather than memorizing what every word looks like. Phonics is well-supported by research on learning to read because it gives your child a way to sound out almost any word they come across, even if they have never seen it before. This approach to reading will help your child become a strong reader! Buzz ‘n’ Read will help to make the process fun! Unlike other learn-to-read apps, this app begins with the very important first step in reading: learning to match letters to sounds so that your child can sound out words. This stage of reading using phonics is called DECODING. After learning this connection, a fun target game is used in this app to help strengthen your child’s learning. The next step in phonics is to learn to BLEND the letter sounds together to figure out what the word is. After learning to decode, your child will be taught how to blend sounds together to make a word and then will be given feedback on whether they sounded out the word correctly. Buzz ‘n’ Read is very unique in that it LISTENS TO YOUR CHILD while he or she is reading. The app uses speech recognition to listen to your child slowly sound out each word until he or she identifies it correctly. A happy sound is played when they say the word. Your child will then get to practice blending sounds together to make words by reading stories with simple words and beautiful illustrations. The words on the screen are read in part by the app’s narrator and in part by your child, with feedback for your child when the word is read correctly. This feedback is important in helping them to learn to read more accurately! The instructions and stories in Buzz ‘n’ Read are all spoken out loud to your child for easier navigation. The voice of the child is engaging and relatable. In most other reading apps, the instructions are written for a parent who is expected to help the child use the app to read. Having a narrator explain the reading process to your child and provide instructions for using the app not only makes learning a friendly process, but your child could even use this app to learn to read all by him- or herself! Best of all, BUZZ ‘n’ Read is COMPLETELY FREE, with no in-app purchases or membership fees, unlike any major other reading app available for iOS. This app was developed by Jackson Lasaga-Ivey.
