Both entities are represented by separate but related views - the "Projects" view and the "Timeline" view. A tap on the view title switches between the two. The Projects view enables the user to create hierarchal projects. The Timeline view - a view of reminders and events sorted by time. In the Projects view, you can break your projects down to manageable steps that can be collapsed, expanded, fitted with quick reminders, photos and notes. The Timeline view provides list of reminders and events sorted by time. New reminders and events can be created and edited. Verdict
The clearest difference is price: ActionTree at Free against TaskMelt's $9.99. ActionTree also leads on rating (4.4 vs 1.0) and ratings volume (7 vs 1). TaskMelt's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (50% vs 33%). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ActionTree is free to download; TaskMelt costs $9.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ActionTree holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ActionTree has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of ActionTree's written reviews are positive against 50% of TaskMelt's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ActionTree ships an update every 2 months, TaskMelt daily. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
