Verdict
Math Vs Aliens and Spinny Fidget both sit at 3.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Math Vs Aliens's written reviews are positive against 59% of Spinny Fidget's. Math Vs Aliens also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (5.1.1 vs 8.0). Spinny Fidget's advantage is ratings volume (140 vs 8). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spinny Fidget sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Math Vs Aliens asks for nothing beyond the download.
Spinny Fidget holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spinny Fidget has 140 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Math Vs Aliens's written reviews are positive against 59% of Spinny Fidget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
