Glamis Guide is the free offline map of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area near Glamis, California. Every camp, hill and landmark sits on aerial imagery bundled with the app, with the terrain shaded so bowls and ridges read at a glance, and all of it works with no cell service at all. WORKS WITH ZERO BARS Imagery for the whole recreation area is stored on your device: nothing to download after install and no signal required. Switch to Apple satellite imagery at any time. Every place shows its elevation from USGS 3DEP data. MARK CAMP Tap once when you park and your camp is saved where you stand. Navigate Back To Camp from the app, a widget, Control Center, the Action button, Siri or your Apple Watch. STRAIGHT-LINE GUIDANCE Pick any place, waypoint or your camp and see the straight-line distance and bearing, with a large heading-up compass, wind, speed and altitude. Distance and bearing stay on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you ride. Guidance is point to point: it does not follow roads or trails, and it warns you when your line crosses a closed area. WAYPOINTS AND TRACKS Long-press the map to drop a waypoint with a name, a note and a color. Record your rides as tracks, even with the phone locked, with distance, moving time, speed and elevation gain. Follow any track later, in either direction, with an Off Route alert if you stray. APPLE WATCH Mark Camp from your wrist and follow an arrow back to it, to any place in the dunes or to your own waypoints, with the distance counting down. Start Ride keeps GPS on with your wrist down, Back To Start retraces your path, and complications show sunset, wind, temperature and the way to camp. 80 PLACES Search or browse camps, hills, vendors, food, ranger stations and restrooms. Every place has photos, a description of Glamis today and its history, coordinates and elevation. Save places for the weekend and browse collections such as Glamis Essentials. CLOSED AREAS The North Algodones Dunes Wilderness and the BLM OHV closures are drawn on the map, with a banner if you ride into one. A guide, not a survey: always follow posted signs. WEATHER AT GLAMIS Current conditions, a 5-Day Forecast with sunset and the moon, and active weather alerts, measured at the dunes, from Apple Weather. The last forecast stays readable when you lose signal. RV LEVELING Lay your iPhone flat in the RV and a bubble level shows which side to raise and by how many degrees. Calibrate once for your iPhone's own tilt, and follow the bubble on your Apple Watch while you set the blocks. WIDGETS, CONTROLS AND SIRI Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, including a Sunset countdown, iOS 18 controls and Siri phrases for camp, waypoints, recording and navigation. Say "Mark camp in Glamis Guide" or "Take me back to camp in Glamis Guide". SHARE A SPOT Share any place or your camp with a link. Friends with Glamis Guide land right on it. Friends without it see the spot, how far away it is and which way to go in an App Clip, with no install. Also on iPad, with a sidebar beside a full-height map, and on iPhone Duo, folded or open. Free, with no account, no ads and no tracking. Your location is never sent to us. SAFETY Glamis Guide is a reference tool, not a navigation system. Direction lines are straight lines between points and do not represent safe or passable routes. The map may not show all terrain hazards, closures, or other vehicles, and GPS may be inaccurate or unavailable. Do not rely on this app as your only means of navigation, and never for emergencies. Off-road travel is inherently dangerous; you are responsible for your own safety. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Glamis Guide is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Bureau of Land Management or any government agency. Offline imagery is derived from the USDA National Agriculture Imagery Program (public domain).
