HeartBeat Visualisation

HeartBeat visualises the heart beat recorded by one of the many available BlueTooth Low Energy (BLE) heart beat sensors available. This application aims to give the user a clear readout of such a sensor. This software is build in such a way that is should work with any bluetooth low energy heart beat sensor available. During measurements, some statistical information about beat to beat interval timing is shown as an indication of the heart rate variability (HRV) The accuracy of the information depends heavily on the sensor used! Next to the statistical standard deviation between beats (SDNN), the number of succeeding beat cycles in a 20ms (NN20) and 50ms (NN50) interval is calculated together with the percentage of those cycles. (pNN20/pNN50) There are two charts, one of the last 5 minutes and one overall chart with aggregated data. The App has a function to upload the raw sensor data to a TCP/IP socket for off loading and processing. for more information about the statistical methods use, please see http://en.wikipedia.com/wiki/Heart_rate_variability

The app “HRT - Heart Rate Training” helps you keep the right pace while training and competing. The app tells you what your current heart rate is using audio. You select how often you want to be alerted and you select whether you want the information in bpm (beats per minute) or % of your maximum heart rate. To use the app you need a bluetooth smart heart rate device, for example Wahoo Blue HR or Polar H7. Many watches can also broadcast heart rate to your phone. Check in the user manual whether your can. The app also features a Fartlek training program. This is a fun way of doing intervals. You will find many articles describing how to do heart rate training on the internet, by searching for ”Heart Rate Training” for example. The main idea is that you get different results depending on what heart rate you have compared to your maximum heart rate. When competing, staying in an elevated heart rate zone too long can decrease your performance. One of the advantages with the HRT app is that you can select how often you want to be alerted and be able to adapt your performance immediately. The app is easy to use and is as suitable for professional athletes as for amateurs. The app also features a customizable heart rate recovery mechanism. Measure how fast your heart rate drops after training. It is normally considered to be a sign of improving physical condition if your heart rate drops faster. The app is free. If you use it more than 10 times, a dialog box will be displayed giving you the option to support the development of the app. You can continue to use the app for free by dismissing the dialog box. After an hour you will also hear a short audio message asking you to buy the app such that my wife can buy herself new shoes. This message will then be announced gradually more often, finally every 10 minutes.
