Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Flag Designer! Create a flag! at 930 against Map Inspector's 11. Flag Designer! Create a flag! also leads on review sentiment (80% vs 71%). Map Inspector's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Map Inspector sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Flag Designer! Create a flag! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Map Inspector holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flag Designer! Create a flag! has 930 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Map Inspector's written reviews are positive against 80% of Flag Designer! Create a flag!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Map Inspector ships an update every 2 months, Flag Designer! Create a flag! monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
