Elegant use of hardware / software
I don't think the 01v has had an update in at least 10 years and here is the software side to remotely control over wifi this mixer.
The hardware side is UMMU box rev2 and together with a couple midi cables the 01v is controllable over Wifi. Not all the available parameters on the 01v are available for control but volume, aux sends, fx sends, EQ and returns and mutes are all available. This allows an aging but very capable 16 ch mixer to have a new life as a live mixer for a minimal investment. All the reverb, delay, and compression needs to be set manually but those are recallable settings once you get a room or band tweaked in and save the library

Yamaha 01V
I have been using this app for a while it's great I control a Yamaha 01V while I'm playing with an iPod very responsive haven't had issues.

Does exactly what it says…
I've been using this for several months now with the Ummo box and it's very good for remote control of the 01V. You can control levels and eq etc and it's fantastic for setting up monitor mixes whilst standing next to the musician with your iPad.
My only gripe, and this is because of the limitations of the midi protocol and nothing to do with the app or developers, is that it doesn't handshake perfectly with the desk - so if you recall a memory, or change something on the desk when the iPad isn't connected, then the remote software doesn't know about the change and you end up "out of sync". As I say, this is because of midi limitations, but is frustrating if you are used to using some of the factory remote software for other desks.
But all in all, this is a really useful and well developed app, with John Milner offering excellent tech support, it is very good at what it does.

Great app!
This is a great tool for anybody still using the original Yamaha 01v but looking for modern features such as remote mixing. I love my 01v but as I am both the guitarist and the sound engineer in my band I usually have to do a lot of running on and off stage during sound check as the mixer is pretty much always set up side of stage. This app stops all of that as I can now mix from off stage. This was easy to set up and works a treat!
There is one slight issue. The app does not like the multi tasking feature of iOS - if the app gets moved to the back ground, it crashes. I have emailed the developer and he has assured me they are aware of the problem and are working on an update to resolve it.
I have also asked if it is possible to add a feature where you can control dynamics and effects parameters using the remote app. Again, the developer has assured me this will get added to the app at some point, he just can't guarantee when that will be.
This is a great app and I can see me keeping my 01v quite a while longer now that I can mix remotely from off stage.

Great app for great a product
I use this app with the ummu box when the desk is side of stage. It works great and really gives the o1v a new lease of life. The on phone support from John was great. I would recommend this app along with the ummu box for anyone that doesn't want to spend lots of cash on a new desk that supports iPad operation.
