Solid Game

Apart from some imbalanced missions like Valmont Pt.2, the game is pretty fair for both sides, and can be quite challenging at times. This game demonstrates asymmetrical warfare on a medieval scale, with the English dominating at ranged battle while the French have significantly more powerful infantry at their disposal. My only gripe would be that there’s not very many missions compared to some of Hex’s larger projects. I’d like to see maybe the Carolinian phase of the war as well, as well as maybe some naval battles too. Overall though, quite a decent game in spite of its flaws.

Soyboys can’t handle AI competition

This ain’t checkers where everyone gets to start off with the same pieces. The scenarios are based on historical situations where many times one side had a preponderance of forces. Whiney millenials and generation z’rs should go back to fortnite. Thank you

Your medieval games AI is destroyed

For example , In Agincourt once the first 5 French horse unites are destroyed by English bow, no further French units deploy/attack. Even though there is a script that says the next battle is attacking. This behavior is repeated in War of the Roses etc. There is a fundamental degradation in the playability of these games. Please undo the “upgrade” ASAP.

Keeps kicking me out of the game.

Excellent game, when it works. It keeps kicking me out of the game. I've tried both sides but when I get to the 3rd campaign I get booted out.
A real shame as I was enjoying playing.

Wrong game

I bought the 100 years war as part of the medieval war bundle but every time I open it I get war of the roses

Great game critism is harsh

I love this game yes the missions are difficult but they are not impossible I have beat every one this game is not a good one to start playing hex war games with but still a great game

Auberoche impossible to play.

Auberoche makes it impossible to use all the missions. English side is impossible to win even on casual setting. Not worth paying for if you can't use all the battles on both sides.

Play imbalance

Play imbalance prevents completion of scenarios (e.g. Auberoche) and thus campaign. The Auberoche scenario has been a reported problem since 2015 and it still has not been fixed.

Trapped in play imbalance

Please allow players to move past scenarios that have serious play balance or AI issues. You lose half the game you purchased when you're stuck on a poorly designed scenario.

Another issue

When playing Agincourt as the French (Lancastrian Phase), the game kills over half the French forces right off the bat!!!

Very poor execution

After the Tank Battles I looked foreward to sth. new, but am very disappointed.
Terrible execution of a good idea. Often almost impossible to identify the units on the map from their design, so have to check details for each and every unit to see, what it is - particularly in the melee.
The winning strategies you need to apply are often completely counterintuitive.
The "strong / weak vs XYZ" info is often just wrong.
You get immediately that nobody could be bothered to provide an even average game, when you read the scenario descriptions. So many typos and grammar mistake indicate that quality control was zero.

AI needs fixed

Agree with other reviewers there are problems with the AI. Your battle progression as the English will stop at Auberoche as the AI doesn't recognize victory.

2 Player

I love your game, 5 stars. But please make a 2 player, I would pay 5 dollars for it. Also I think light infantry archers should not shoot as well as the longbow men do. Great game. Also I cannot purchase the new Loire Campaign, please fix this.

Great

One of the many great strategic games in medieval ages. P.S just wanted to point out the misspelling of "men at arns"

Not worth it

Why should I have to win each battle before I can move on to the next one? I paid for a certain number of battles, I should be able to play them all win or lose. No more Hexwar games for me.

Good game but more than one impossible to win...

One or two of the games do not end, even when you have won, so you don't get to play every game. Whoever designed these games needs to ensure they all play through if you win.

Poor scenario balance early on blocks progress

Playing through on normal, but reached scenario Auberoche. Many attempts: failure. Oh, well, I'll wimp out and play on "casual". Nope, multiple attempts and failure. Not well-balanced at all, which ruins enjoyment. I cannot recommend this version.

A little test maybe ??

These people really need to maybe test their product before it's released . The crashes and AI that doesn't recognize when you've won is getting rather tiring .

100 years war

Great game in this series. Virtually all hex war games give plenty of variety and hours of gameplay. Wish you could just play any scenario instead of completing one before next is unlocked. Some battles are just about impossible to win which means you can't move on. Some battles in the medieval series are very difficult to win. Still a great game.

...and the war goes on!

Another nice selection of medieval battles and skirmishes.I'm a fan of Hex wargaming and these little excursions give lots of ideas for scenarios.I can't wait to see what other periods and battles are in the offing.Highly recommended.
