A treasure, superb UX !

The developers really thought of everything, including digging back into a character if reviewing it fades too fast at first. Grammar points are introduced progressively, woven into sentences that replicate everyday language. The native speakers are a huge help, and really speaking naturally, without any concessions to the usual traps of “let’s make it easy on our poor Chinese language learners.” So well designed, with smart progressions and a great variety of situations that avoid “rote” learning. Well done! Honestly, I also love the built-in encouragements, the fun of the games that keep me learning. Another great plus: interesting reading material that uses the vocabulary levels of your progress.

Many weeks later, wish I could give it 6 stars!
I am adding to the above: the more you use the app, the more it remembers what you did, where your strengths are and where your needs to review are. The live teachers' dialogue discussing (in English and Chinese) for each lesson the fine points of vocabulary, grammar and cultural details are precious. This app will be with me for a long time!

So far great for complete beginner

Absolutely great for those who want to get started learning Mandarin with no experience or background. Light years better than Duo, I felt like I never got anywhere with that and the ads and pay if you did that incentives not actually learning was garbo. HelloChinese on the other hand, this app wipes the floor, so very good. Could sufficient starter to get you to HSK level 1, which from there you can expand your learning methods. Learn the core hanzi, other methods and stuff. This is what I’m planning hopefully for so far 😁👍 wô ài Zhōngguó 🇨🇳🙌 🫡!
