  • Universe2Go is 5 stars for me, a discriminating astrophotographers

I have a Starmaster hybrid dobsonian telescope with Zambuto world class mirror and feature my astronomy photos online. Reliable use of the scope requires stellar alignment, greatly aided by a good star map app. Selection of objects to observe requires either advance planning or, better, a good star map app that is accurate and easy to use on site. I’ve used many apps over the years and my favorite is Universe2Go. I can select my alignment stars with ease, and objects to observe/photograph as desired in real time with no advance planning needed. The red color scheme maintains my dark adapted vision. The app is extremely accurate and assists confirmation of object selection. My scope has excellent Sky Commander Go-To and tracking, so all I have to do is confirm the desired objects with Universe2Go and enter them into the Sky Commander computer.
I really enjoy the VR Planetarium mode when I choose to plan my observing session, or just to enjoy the celestial sky. My iPhone update from SE to XR was able to be accommodated by simply removing the spacers I had installed when I first set up the VR viewer to use the SE. The XR is a much larger phone, and just fits with no inserts, with the iPhone cover removed. Make sure to download the latest version from the App Store. Thanks for a great app.

  • App won’t open on my iPhone

I have the latest iOS update, but the app won’t open what so ever !!
  • Need code

I’ve downloaded this a few months ago and hadn’t looked at it for a while. I opened it, touched planetarium. It prompted me for a code and froze. I couldn’t go back so deleted it. There are other great apps that are easy to use.
  • English version

This a cool concept and generally everything works pretty good up until it starts talking. The intro is in English but you get German when the program starts describing planets and stars
  • I've seen better.

I am sure that a lot of effort was put into this app, but with so many great applications available today, in my opinion this one fell short.
Explanations wear short and dull. The movement of the sky as I moved my phone, was jerky. And one really annoying glitch, when I tried to reduce the intensity outside of the application (since you cannot do it within the app) and I returned to this application, it would start on the main menu and it would lower the screens' intensity on its own. I couldn't see the screen.
A good app would get you excited about astronomy, but this one didn't. Maybe if I order the cardboard box to put my phone in, I would get a much better experience, but I lost interest.

  • Difficult to use and not impressed

It's not easy to set this up with the viewer, and selecting options while using is also tricky. This makes it appropriate for experienced users, but the displays and performance are very basic and more suited to novices and education.
Hopefully an update will improve this soon, in the meantime I couldn't really recommend it.

  • Brilliant

This is amazing! Never written a review before I had to after using this. Would make a wonderful gift for any amateur astronomer out there.
