  • Sync issues

I’ve used Nirvana for over 6 years; mostly very successfully. However, recent updates mean that information doesn’t sync properly.
Information that has been deleted reappears and new data disappears even on the same device. Syncing between devices is also somewhat haphazard. Being unable to rely on information being captured rather negates the reason for using the app!

  • Best GTD App for Functionality and Ease of Use

I’ve tried other costlier apps for GTD, such as Omni and Things 3, but Nirvana stands out as the best due to its functionality. Key features include: 1.Availability across all Windows platforms as an app plus browser and on iOS app. This means I never have to worry about which device I’m using. 2.The GTD action feature is excellent. It’s always easy to see items listed under ‘Next’ and ‘Waiting For’ rather than actions tagged. 3.It’s easy to see items based on areas and energy levels. Overall, it’s simple to use and highly effective.

  • Disappointing

I have been trying to find an app that follows the GTD principles and this was suggested. Unfortunately I could not even set a simple repeat task until I purchased the pro version. Granted it was just £5 for the month, but as I set my repeat task I am not able to set a time specific recurrent task. For me this defeats the purpose so I took the loss and ducked out

  • Great app; needs bug fixes (will update review if it improves)

If you are a GTD enthusiast you will no-doubt love the beautiful design and simplicity of this app. It is the most GTD-friendly to-do app I have found (and I have tried A LOT of apps). Unfortunately within the last few months it has become unusable. It no longer accurately syncs and updates when I mark something as “done” or deleted after I close the app and open it again. It is inconsistent and not always the same items that “come back” being done/deleted. Needless to say, this is very frustrating. I upgraded to the paid version since I enjoy the app so much but sadly the issue has not resolved. I have tried upgrading my phone, I have uninstalled/reinstalled, reset the app, tried different devices, turned off/on sync, stopped using sync altogether, and the problem remains despite all of these remedies. If developers fix this critical issue I will come back and update this review. Thanks!

  • Used to be the best GTD app out there…

Sadly, since recent backend changes, the syncing across all my devices (excluding the desktop app) is now so unreliable on iOS in particular, I’m at pains to say that I will have to consider jumping ship to another GTD type app. I really do hope that my suggestion to the developers to rollback their sync logic to a time when it worked will make the difference. Here’s hoping! 🤞🏼

  • Sync

App follows GTD very well, really loved it when I first started using from the web. Downloaded the app on both phone and tablet, love the interface. Though - I have a solution that works for me that I can use on my PC at work, Mac at home and iOS devices. Then tried to sync. And tried to sync. And tried to sync…. Have to completely close out of the app to get it to sync. Then do the same on the other. Very sad because I really wanted this to work. At least found out while still using the free version.

  • Clean GTD app lacking a few crucial functions

In terms of clean look and GTD features, I loved Nirvana initially and paid $50 for a lifetime membership. I also love and use the Focus feature everyday. However I failed to realize a few downfalls prior to buying and despite much time investment building up my system in Nirvana, I’m considering switching apps. Most importantly, there is no collaborative feature, so I cannot have joint projects or share tasks with my partner, which is very disappointing and I have to use multiple clunkier and less effective apps, which is wearing on us. Though push notifications were apparently added finally as a feature after years of user complaints, I have yet to witness this to work on any of my devices despite updating, scouring settings, etc. There are a few other design flaws that seem they could be easily addressed and have been requested by users to no avail - I unfortunately get the impression that the Nirvana team is neither responsive nor quick to adapt to user feedback.

  • Love the app but there’s one major issue

Love the app but not being able to backup reference lists and reference items is a major issue. If that’s fixed, I will be able to fully rely on this app for my planning needs.

I reported this to support probably a year ago but they haven’t fixed the issue. If you look at some other reviews, losing data can be painful. So, not having proper export for backups is a major dealbreaker even though I purchased the lifetime package.

  • It was amazing - then it wasn’t.

After learning about GTT methodology I turned your Nirvana as my chosen app. Decided it was with the premium payment and wanted to support the company so I upgraded to unlimited projects for $30. For 6 months it worked flawlessly, and then a bug occurred where I lose everything I typed in the note (web app) when navigating to a different open window. I submitted a support ticket and it’s been a month and the developers haven’t updated it yet according to Nirvana Customer Support. I have also encountered black screen/freezes on the iPhone app. Not sure what’s going on but losing my notes SUUUUUUUCKS. I hope these are fixed so I don’t have to find an alternative.

  • Awesome GTD app!

Have been constantly using the app for around three years. Overall love how it is and I have built a habit to use this naturally as my only task management across different areas

    Pros
    - Clean UI with just right features. It is a GTD tool, and only a GTD tool! There is no excessive features like learning tips, apps, focus timer etc.
    - Flexible to fit different use styles. You can use the app as simplest as you can like just using Inbox as the basic to-do tool, or as detailed as creating projects/labels, adding time/energy requirements for each action.
    - Great management across devices and areas. I manage my personal actions in phone and work-related tasks in my laptop, and I don't see major issues logging in, and tasks are perfectly grouped that I don't see any work-related stuff in my personal area and vice versa.

    Suggestion
I really wish someday it would have support for ios widget, which can show a summary of my current inbox/next actions. It would be helpful to remind me of cleaning and clearing the actions more easily!
