Leave a Review Things 3 for iPad
Maybe 3 Stars ... 2.5
I've had T3 for awhile on mobile devices, but wanted to make the commitment by including the Mac, but found a review that pointed out the fact that T3 does not allow early completion of Repeating tasks. After downloading the trial version directly from the web site, I find this to be precisely the case. And, sadly this is a deal killer for me, especially considering the financial out-lay for full, multi-device functionality. I see that the UI is not even set up for this, which I find ... well, weird. It looks like it's probably going to take a major re-write of the UI to get this done, (just guessing), which means it's probably not going to happen anytime soon, unless a major, paid, upgrade is in the near future. For those searching for a different task manager, or, in the market for the first time, please be aware of how well laid out this app really is. This is reflected in the many happy customer reviews, and I can tell you that, if it were not for the lack of early completion of completed tasks, and, an apparent need for improved syncing (critical for me), I would be converting to T3 from Sorted3. I just started using Sorted last year and before that I used 2Do for many years for work and personal task management, and believe it is a unique and powerful way to manage your daily t0-dos. Anyway, don't let my deal-killer issue be a singular decider, this is worth a careful consideration in spite of it's inability to fully meet my personal needs.Show lessMost unintuitive design for iPad
I only use the ipad version. Have used all the other competing task managers and always came back to this one. Would love to see it improve with other features that there competitors have. The one downfall I see are the lengths between updates. I already see a few ways for some of the newer features to be added, but I’m also not a programmer or ui/ux designer so no need to really consider those.
I know I’d like to see some sort of priority system added so certain items are at the top of today and I’d like to see the natural language input added to the quick note feature.
I don’t see myself leaving anytime this app, especially after the steep $20 pay wall, but it’s a 1 time fee which is why I chose this one ultimately since the others are monthly or annually.Show lessExcellent App but needs critical improvement to avoid being money sink
I would readily pay all $80 the developers want from us for this app suite! It is overall excellent and exactly what I was looking for in a to-do app. However, when I purchase a suite such as this, I assume that I will be able to use it at its current level of functionality for several years -- to put it on the same price level as $30/year subscription services like its peers. When things 3 came out, the developers dropped support for syncing in things 2! This is absolutely unacceptable as if I didn't want syncing I would not pay the extra $30 for the iPhone and iPad apps. I do not expect the developers to maintain expensive servers indefinitely, however.
The developers need to add support for syncing over iCloud like most other syncing apps on the App store, or my rating will remain low as I expect upon the advent of things 4, sync support will once again be dropped. This would allow users to use the $80 software suite that they paid for for as long as they choose, and purchase the new version if they feel the features so warrant it, not because the developers feel as though it is appropriate to extort users by disrupting their use of the existing software.Show lessDeveloper Response
Hey there! When we released Things 3 in May 2017, we *continued* to offer support for Things 2, the old app. And despite discontinuing Things 2 (after more than 5 years of free updates, free new features, and free sync), the mobile apps continued to work for years on iOS versions which we hadn't even build Things 2 for. Sync for Things 2 was discontinued in 2020 due to technical reasons – a full three years (!) after the app had already been retired. So we really did our best to ensure that our existing users had a very long transition period, and weren't pressured into an update if they weren't ready for it yet.
