  • Still not sure, but great for keeping track

I have to say that without one key, or a tick, I'm still not sure what benefit the app has for me, other than documenting my tool purchase and ownership for potential future use of the warranties. In that respect, i feel Milwaukee would have an easier time of tracking my purchases warranty claims, with the pictures of receipts and tools that i included. Doesn't feel like a true registration, so much as a tracking app. Maybe Milwaukee could improve the app, in this aspect. Maybe a little acknowledgment of your brand loyalty, and purchase. An informal "registration"

  • Not what I was promised.

I am an electrical contractor and I bought two sets of the drills and impact combo for two of my foreman. I have always been in favor of Milwaukee tools and when I went to my local supplier and they told me about Milwaukee’s new tools that could be 1) tracked where they were and 2) shut down if they are stolen, I was completely all in. I immediately purchased the two and swapped out some old drills on my guys trucks. Within the first two weeks one set was already stolen off one of the trucks. I thought no problem, I’ll shut it down and see where it’s at, report it to the police, and get my drill back. Not so!!! I quickly learned that the app only works if: someone else also has the app, and they have their blue tooth on. So, I don’t know who had it wrong Milwaukee or the supplier but I will say that Milwaukee stood by their product and understood the confusion and sent us a replacement. The fact they did this still makes them my favorite company for power tools however, I would not want someone to be misled regardless of where the fault lied in the explanation that I got. The other features are nice, so I gave three stars.

  • Very satisfied

I’m an commercial HVAC service tech and installer. I love all the features of this app and the tools. Things from purchase price, where tool was purchased, when tool was purchased etc for insurance and service/maintenance reasons, also great things like preset max rpm and torque settings. The GPS and tool shut off is great as well for times we hope everyone is honest but sometimes you are around people that like things and don’t want to pay for them. Thanks again Milwaukee love all my tools. Keep up the great work!!

  • Disappointed

I was looking to switch over to all company supplied tools, so was very excited to see that Milwaukee had this tool tracking system. That excitement was short lived once after purchasing 4 sets of these tools and seeing the EXTREMELY lackluster results.
I understand the Bluetooth location orientation, so realize that this isn’t a GOS system, but it isn’t working.
I had setup 2 of my impact drivers, 2 drills and one Tick before bringing them to a job site. On my drive in that morning, all the tools showed current tracking, but only one has worked since. I have the Tick in my van with me, been driving around with it for a week, but it has never shown up.
The other 4 tools are all together, and 1 got a reading on one of the tools 1 day, obviously off of someone that has the app on their phone at the site. The other 3 tools have never shown up, nor any of the tools showing a reading from when I was onsite near the tools.
Very disappointed with this type of performance from a Milwaukee branded anything. Should’ve stuck with RIGID for 1/2 the price and their lifetime warranty.

  • Helps me a great deal with managing and keeping aerial numbers on all my tools

Milwaukee is ahead of the game with this and as well on many other things. Love the idea of the tick, I bought one just to test it out. I think this technology has a long way to go but is a good start. The distance that can be tracked and the fact the app has to be running on other people’s phones in order to detect the stolen tool just isn’t ideal for most theft situations. Milwaukee does make very nice tools and they do take that little extra time in their engineering and quality that lesser brands do not. But you do pay for that difference. 12 volt tools I have and like the circular saw 12v struggles to have enough power to barely cut 2x4s, so I’d go with 18v if you want a cordless circular saw. Their 12v drill and impacts are good for small uses. Overall love their organizers with the gasket to keep moisture out and love most any Milwaukee products. Keep up the good work, love the app a lot a lot.

  • Works Great!

The tool inventory is awesome to have. I can store a picture of my receipts to any new tool that I buy (even if it’s not Milwaukee) along with corresponding serial #’s in case I need to make a warranty/theft claim. The app is very helpful for inventory and I would highly recommend it for that purpose alone.
The One-Key tracking works pretty well on my iPhone too. I’ve got a couple Ticks on some of my tools and I’ve been known to leave a tool somewhere. 1 Tick and this app has already saved me $200 from a tool I misplaced and was able to find using the Tick and App together.

  • Not very helpful

The problem with these Tick devices and app is that they have to be within 50 feet of each other to actually be detected. They are so expensive that you would think that they would high tech GPS locators, but in reality they don’t do anything for you if your tools are lost or stolen UNLESS some other person just happens to also have the app, ALSO be on their app, looking for tools, and ALSO happens to be within 50 feet of your tool, and ALSO is kind enough and honest enough to report the item found and/or doesn’t take it for themselves.......
so really not that helpful. I mean it can show you where it was the last time you were near it. So if someone has multiple job sites and a bad memory then I suppose it could be helpful to them.

Hi, thanks for your feedback, the app actually works a little different towards the end of your description. We are a Bluetooth tracking network, yes, which means that a user with the One-Key app would need to come within about 100' of your Tick or tool. The Ticks and One-Key tools use iBeacon, which means that as long as a user has the app, and Bluetooth on, they'd be able to update a location. It doesn't have to be open or even running in the background. Additionally, tools and Ticks that you own are hidden from other users of the app. They wouldn't be able to see your stuff, but their phone would be automatically updating it's location if they were near it. If you need any help or wish to troubleshoot together, we're here! Send us a note: onekeyfeedback@milwaukeetool.com
