(The amount of Magic Stones in games where Eiko has already joined the party will also be corrected based on level. However, the amount of Magic Stones that transfer from Marcus in future may vary. New games and games where Eiko was added to the party only after the update should function normally. Reviews of FINAL FANTASY Ⅸ

  • Great port with one bug

I haven’t finished it but so far this is a great port surprised to see it was the ps4 remaster instead of the original so this is the best looking version of the game. I mean if your interested in this game I’m sure you know how great final fantasy 9 is so no need to review that. There has been one bug on new devices though that is a bit annoying when opening the game and pressing continue the game will instantly crash it will do this a couple times and then on the third try it works. So far no crashes when playing but it does feel a bit uneasy that the game could crash and you lose all the progress you’ve made hopefully the developers look into this for one more update.
  • Good game when it works.

The game looks and works well on iPhone…when it works. There is a constant problem of crashing on startup with it raking more than a dozen tries and a phone reboot to get work (this is with iOS 17. The crashing also happens when playing but rarely enough that it isn’t a big issue.

Gameplay is good with responsive touch control. The save menu is slower to load than it needs to be and frequent saving is important due to the crashing issues and the need to repair from a. Saved fake instead of auto save.

All said, this is a decent—if buggy—port. There is no new content. If you liked the original and can’t get past the bugs it is worthwhile
  • Minimal load issues on a great FF game!

Bought it on sale and had concerns about the save-loading issue, but I just finished a 65hr, near 100% playthrough and had minimal issues.

Auto save is fantastic (saves every time you enter a new area) and continuing from auto saves usually gives no issue if there’s a random crash (I had 7-10 in my playthrough). I didn’t really lose any progress thanks to auto save.

If you have issues with loading, make sure to wait a solid 10s before clicking on continue/your save file. This made loading almost always work for me.

The game stays open well in the background compared to FF 7 & 8 and it was rare I needed to load.

My specs: iOS 16.6 on iPhone SE

Really, it’s a great game and I’m glad it worked. I’d rank it over FF8 but FF7 is still the king for me.

Can’t give it more than 3 stars because it feels like neglect that this hasn’t been kept updated to avoid said issues, especially for one of the rare companies that wants platform price on mobile.
