Rehab Guru Client User Reviews

Good app but…

It’s a good app, gives clear instructions on what to do, but I’d love a set counter and a stopwatch that’s built into the app.

A notes section needed

Would be great if the user could have a section to record notes for weights used or any variations of exercises

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for the review. We do have a notes section on each exercise where you add the Weight, Rep, Set and Pain / Wellness. These notes are reported to the clinician, so I wonder if you are asking to have your own notes / journal section. We’d love to hear more, please email us on team@rehabguru.com. Thanks again for your feedback, we’re working hard on the client app to improve the experience of our users patients / clients.

Needs further development

I really like the idea behind the app, but feel it is half baked and I would wager that the developers have not been its end users.

Firstly, there is a time out on daily sessions - so if you want to actually do your exercises as prescribed and then note down your progress with the moves, the session often times out, requiring you to log several sessions in a day. If you have an injury, you will be taking your time with this and therefore the timing component is useless and makes things confusing when you are wanting to check which exercises you have left to do.

Secondly, you can’t even go back into previous sessions to see what you have previously written, and therefore what your response to an exercise was! What on Earth is the point of that then?

Thirdly, and this relates in part to the first two points, the progression graph is somewhat pointless - yes it correlates your comfort and pain levels, but considering each exercise can illicit a very different response, there is no objective way of combining those variables to show you real progress on the graph - it is abstract, at best, and changes with every exercise you rank.

Lastly, the exercises themselves. I really like the videos, but would appreciate a diagram which shows which muscles group you are meant to be activating. After an injury biodynamics can change in a way that means you may not even be activating the right group and potentially causing further injury. Especially with some of the more subtle single group isolating exercises where you can’t even see what the instructor is doing that well. One exercise particularly is so vague that I can’t tell if I’m meant to be engaging my hamstrings, glutes or lower back. The black message box that shows up once you save an exercise also stays on the screen too long and is too frequent, making you have to wait until it disappears so you can close down the given exercise.

Response from developer

Thank you for your candid feedback it helps us deliver a much better app for users in future updates. Rehab Guru is founded by two qualified clinicians and they provide oversight on every feature implemented. To your first point about Rehab Guru Client's developers not being users, this is true, other than testing we are looking at this app as an extension of the service we offer professionals (Rehab Guru Pro). Many of the features you mention as causing issues for the end user are derived directly from physio / clinician features. We will endeavour to get more user feedback from the client app in order to cater for the 'its' end users as well as the Rehab Guru Pro users. You obviously have a programme prescribed which is to be performed over a prolonged period of time as opposed to the performing of a 'rehab session', which would take place over a shorter period of time. We will take this drip-fed approach to rehab on-board for both the cessation of a session and going back into a session to edit / view it. There is one issue we need to overcome, which is one of when does a session timeout? Suppose you start a session in the morning and then forget to stop the session, does it carry on regardless? We have this timeout set to 1 hour of inactivity, which seems reasonable to assume that someone has finished their session if inactive for this amount of time. This is a vital metric to measure as patience adherence to an exercise programme is crucial to the management of their condition. Initially the Rehab Guru Client app was a means of getting data from the client to inform the decisions and management of the clinician. It has grown into much more than that as it now sits as a tool to both motivate, track and monitor your physical activity. In the move from a paper print out (which is probably what you would be given if it wasn't for Rehab Guru) we understand there are many opportunities to take this further into areas such as goal settings and activity tracking. Again, the progression graph is showing the raw data that your therapist will see in order to inform their clinical decision making. While you are unable to drill down into each exercise, the clinician can on their interface. The abstract view of 'general progress' and adherence over time is being developed to offer a better insight for the client / patient. You clinician has the complete flexibility to add more information to the exercises, attached information sheets, or indeed record their own exercises for you to follow. If the exercise prescribed demands specific 'biodynamics' then your clinician has the scope to emphasise these. The black notification has a time of 3000ms, this will be reduced to 1000ms in the next update of our app. Thank you for your feedback, we are working hard to continue to push the boundaries of rehabilitation forwards. While we feel 3* is a little harsh, we will take it all onboard and continue to do what we can to deliver a better service.

Dragging Physio into the 21st Century

I was prescribed a Rehab Guru programme after an operation on my back. I was discharged from hospital with some overly photocopied low quality exercise sheets which didn’t inspire me at all!

With Rehab Guru I can see videos, track my progress and remain motivated. I’m very impressed with the App and team which have made it available to my physio, who prescribed my programme in about 5 minutes.
