Reviews of UAV Forecast

  • Droning On

I never fly my drone without checking the UAV Forecast. It is more reliable than anything else I have tried. The wind at different levels can really toss around a drone if you fly without the proper information. That can lead to ruined footage or worse a damaged or heaven forbid lost drone. A most worthwhile and affordable app for amateur or professional photographer or cinematographer.
  • DJI NFZ legend on the map

Loving the app so far, signed up for hobbyist subscription. Absolutely love the fact that besides weather conditions, it shows a map with NFZ, specifically covering National Parks. Also love the Good to Fly green sign making it clear for the pilot that from the weather perspective, they are good to go.

Why did I give 4 stars then?

Maybe its my operator error but I am not able to see the legend for just DJI NFZ in the map. In the map, when I click on the “Authorization Zone” in blue, the marker points to the Restricted Zone. Perhaps an enhancement in the app shows this information on the map.

On the home screen, i see that it shows the # of NFZs nearby so perhaps the paid version can say Good to Fly with “Authorization Zone” unlocking.
  • Not Worth The Price

Was thinking about getting it and at first was turned off by the fact that I can only use it on two devices. I would always use it on my phone p, but I have an iPad and an iPad Mini. The Mini is more convenient to travel, but with my old eyes at home I prefer to use the larger iPad.

Most IOS apps allow 5 or 6 devices.

I decide to go with AirData UAV since they offer about a 5 or 6 day forecast for free and with the paid version you get 15 days.

On top of weather with the Gold plan, which is $76 annually, you can track your drones and batteries and a whole lot more.

I thought about still getting this as a backup, but $49 a year is way too steep of a price to pay for backup software with a limit of two devices. And even as a primary app, I think $25 is more reasonable with the removal of the 2 device restriction.
