Awesome if you know how to use it
Been working with Revel for about 8 years and it’s one of the most dynamic systems I’ve ever seen. I read a lot of people complaining about the software and I think it boils down to sheer laziness. It’s a powerful tool that has all the features a business needs to grow.
Excellent POS app
We have been using Revel for over 2 years, and it has been a game changer for our business. We have a mall food court, quick serve restaurant. All the staff are competent and love using the app. Management console is good, and it integrates seamlessly with my Moneris debit system. We are in Canada, so the setup is a bit different than our US counterparts. Highly recommended.

Known issue
When we tried to figure out why we couldn’t run reports without the system crashing they told us “that’s a known issue, download the old version” please test your system before publishing updates
Replacing soon
The older sys was much better and easier to use. Backend end does not sync with quick books even after updating QB to 2018, Tech support is in Russia or somewhere and they don’t understand what your trying to get fixed because they don’t understand how Americans think about problems.
Sys is probably ok for restaurants but for any other mobile business where you have multiple locations and route sales it is not that great at all. I’m currently looking at several other options and will change by the end of the year.

Older versions
Need older versions in case of emergency. Waste too much time with phone support for no reason
Have servers test before new updates
The last few updates that have come through have completely rearranged buttons and/or added extra steps. Please have someone who’s actually worked in the industry test your updates before you roll them out. It makes service slower having to search for things after we already have the muscle memory built up.

Scales still broke
The 2.22 version has been out for nearly three months and still the core functionality with scales is broke. Revel is slowly falling apart and their attention to quality and customer service is going downhill fast.
HORRIBLE SYSTEM
We have had this system for a year and a half now and it has never fully worked properly. We have lost lots of time and money trying to get their system to work. Many issues with the system itself and customer service.
If you expect a refund they will not. We are now left with a system that doesn't work and have their hardware which serves no use to us since it doesn't work.
Summary of our issues from day 1 that are still ongoing, just to name a few:
- Syncing issues - iPads not communicating with one another, to the main iPad
- Tickets not printing to kitchen
- Old tickets continually appearing in kitchen and also printing out
- Limited report functions - you're stuck with what they have for data for reports. Cannot custom reports to your needs
- System going offline even when there is internet connection
- System doesn't work when there is no internet connection, as promised
- Inconsistency with customer service knowledge

Non-existent support after the sale
After a lot of research, I, like many, chose Revel for the POS of my restaurant under construction. After receiving my hardware in late August the company complete forgot about my existence. Busy with construction, it wasn't until I needed to know what was necessary for wiring that I discovered how bad this company is at support. Multiple attempts to get someone to answer a simp,e question about wiring led nowhere; it generally took 4-5 days to get a response to an inquiry. After several weeks of blatant disregard, I gave up and cancelled. They won't take back their unopened, unused hardware, will charge a $500 per terminal cancellation fee and want to charge almost $2000 for installation services they never supplied. I can't encourage you enough to explore other options before you repeat my disastrous and expensive mistake with this terrible company.
