Description of Achagat
Achagat enables typing in Iñupiaq, the language of the Iñupiaq people of western and northern Alaska.
It’s now as easy as “a, ch, g” to type Iñupiaq on your iPhone, whether it’s inputting an Iñupiaq name in your contacts, typing an email, sending a message, or practicing with a flash card app as you wait for class to start.
The keyboard uses press and hold to enable characters specific to Iñupiaq, the same way Apple’s default keyboard allows you to type characters like é and ü. This approach allows the keyboard to retain full English capability for painless switching between languages.
Big shoutout to:
- Alexei Baboulevitch (Archagon) for building an amazing open-source keyboard that can be found here: https://github.com/archagon/tasty-imitation-keyboard
- Reid Magdanz for content and ideas.
- icons8 (icons8.com) for providing the icons used on the tab bar for free.
