Nice twist on matching puzzle battling

I like dragging across in any direction to produce symbol matches over moving to rearrange the pieces such as many other apps. It’s a good change of interaction and feels like a different type of spatial reasoning skill.
I’m also a fan of the strategy required because of the different functions of each symbol.
I’m not super far into the game yet, and I do wish they were a little more liberal with the coins, but I’m definitely enjoying it so far!

A diamond still in the rough...

So this game has been so much fun to play through. The witty wise cracks and wonderful story and it’s best aspects. Unfortunately there are still some simple errors that can be fixed. For example, recently when I’ve played it, the game won’t allow you to get a combo of 9 or more. It doesn’t crash, but you’ll be stuck in the action scene forever unless you close the app. Another problem is when you actually get to the end of the level. When you tech the last enemy and finish it, the enemy doesn’t actually die. Instead, it stays in place with no health bar and then your stuck in another soft-lock. I do wish the developers would fix these issues so I can get back into enjoying this amazing game and finally beat the dragon at the end (haven’t been able to finish the game because of these problems).

Fun and has personality

The games artwork looked pretty cool when I was browsing through apps the other day, so I thought I would look into it. After getting started and grasping how the game worked I enjoyed it very much.

There are a few things I would like to understand better though. The damage that the enemies do compared to the shields collected doesn’t really mean anything, essentially you can just collect 3 shields to negate any attack. I thought the more you line up the more damage you block, as well as the player health scaling to the enemy. The xp system doesn’t make much sense to me, you get so much and it doesn’t feel as rewarding when you pass levels and nothing really happens.

All in all the game is solid and fun, if the devs check into these small issues and give them a fix then this game will be even more solid. Thank you for the fun game!

It’s pretty good

If I could I would put it at a 3.5 star.

It’s a pretty basic matching game at it surface level but it keep itself interesting with level variety and level design. The money and XP system are seemingly designed to do nothing but slow you down. You can easily do the first 30 or so levels but around that point you will start to become under powered. The only way to remedy this is via leveling which means farming previous levels that now give drastically reduced rewards or by forking over 3k of your hard earned coins for a 1 use power up.

Overall it is a silly game full of references that people big on pop culture will enjoy and the gameplay is solid. My only complaint is the soft lock of the stat system and weapons that is clearly put there to make you buy in game currency. Despite that it is still playable without forking over cash so I’d still say it’s an ok game overall.

Average Puzzle RPG

The game is fun to play, and has good humor, however it relies entirely on RNG (random number generator).

Unlike the game “You Must Build A Boat” (which also has its own awkward humor) where the pieces are a little more organized and a lot less random, this game “Good Knight Story” doesn’t do-so.
Which means you can get a lot of useless pieces, or having to match heart or shield pieces 2 turns before the monster attacks, then not having said pieces when it’s the monster’s turn.
There is some strategy involved to help limit this, but sometimes the RNG will screw you over, leading to many loses and re-trying the same level over and over until you get a better board of pieces and hope you don’t screw it up. And if you do, then it’s back to re-trying the same level as many times as you have patience.

There are power-ups and revives all which use the in-game free currency. So that helps a little bit, but aside from that, there’s no way to escape bad RNG. It is fun for a little while, but then the difficulty begins to out-pace you and you will have to rely on good RNG and power-ups.

What have you done?!?

The new update has messed with the functionality of the game. Level 102 (3 normal mons) when ever I get an awesome or epic combo, the game freezes which means I can’t progress through the game. Also, when equipping/upgrading weapons the back button does not work! Everything worked perfectly before the update.

On a positive note, the game is really fun and the whit of the dialogue is my favourite part.

Please sort the issue so I can continue with my quest!

Brilliant but maybe buggy?

This game is outstanding and well worth five stars. However I’m only on level 38 and killing the opponents doesn’t credit me the kills towards the objective. So I have just killed them and opened the chest. But the level fails to complete as I am yet to kill the enemies. Any help would be appreciated!

Great game, highly recommended!

Definitely one of my favourite match 3 games, if not the best match 3 game I have ever played. This game is funny but not trying too hard, gameplay is fun and has depth. Very generous with coins, you don’t need to buy any IAP or watch ads to finish the game if you play carefully. Highly recommended.

Unexpectedly amazing

Hands down, my favorite mobile game.
I hate “Bejeweled” style games, and I was so addicted to this. I say was because I finished all the levels. Some get a little difficult but you just have to upgrade your weapons and you’re good.
I love the story and the humor, sucked me right in.
And I love that it doesn’t force you to watch adds, you can choose to to get things to help through the game.
I just wish they were still coming out with more levels. This is for sure a game I would pay for.

Just a suggestion

Should make a gem version were you connect 3-4-5 and get different bonuses based on what you connect example connect 3 swords you attack connect 4 swords you crit for extra damage connect 5 and you go through block with a crit... connect 3 shields you block 4 you deal thorn damage 5 you reflect damage anyway you get the point
