Contacts needs groups
In the macOS version it’s possible to create groups, but that feature is not available on iOS. That feature is fundamental for organization, but could be really useful for FaceTime, Messages and other apps.
Needs smart group support
Using iCloud is nice when maintaining contacts mainly because you can add and maintain groups but this is completely lost in this app. It’s also missing a feature to have a group of uncategorized contacts. If you add support for smart groups this could easily be fixed.
If this app gets the addition of adding and managing groups, including smart groups, similar to how it works on ICloud, this app would get 5 stars.

Why is it so boring?
Some may think a contacts app is just a lot of contacts. But it can be so much more!
It needs an update with more visual options, more information about a contact, last time I contacted them, how I contacted them, etc.
The information is there, but it's presented in a boring lame way, doesn't even look like the rest of iOS.
Make contacts into more of a contact "hub". Make it the place I go to connect with friends and business associates.
Right now it's the same as a list on a notepad. It can be much better.

Missing basic functionality.
This contacts app is usable if you only use your phone for personal use. Wait, actually it’s still mediocre even for personal use.
Its really missing the basic ability to group contacts. I should be able to create a contact group for family, for close friends, and I should be able to have contacts from my work account automatically get put into a work group. This functionality has been missing for a while, but it’s really become a headache when it comes to setting up focus modes, since I need to select individual contacts and then remember to add new ones to each focus mode. MacOS contacts app has the ability to group contacts, why is this missing on my iOS devices?
