Description of KQ MiniSynth

KQ MiniSynth is a powerful polyphonic modular synthesizer. This app allows you to create sounds by patching modules. You can add/remove up to 100 modules at will. (Oscillators, Envelope Generators, Filters, and so on) Of course, it depends on the capability of your device. Modular system is also good for education use. You can learn the role of various modules while patching those. The Patch-Editing view supports zooming. You can connect modules with taps easily. 71 Presets are included. External and Virtual MIDI is Supported. MIDI over Bluetooth LE is Supported (Act as a Central device). Inter-App Audio is Supported. Audiobus is Supported. Ableton Link integration. Includes an Audio Unit Extension (AUv3 Instrument). FAQ: Q: The output sounds too quiet. A: Expression value(Ctrl #11) may be too small. Try to Tap "RESET" on I/O Panel. When it is not improved, try changing an option "Boost Velocities". Q: The velocities seem to be ignored on Audio Unit. A: If you want to enable the note velocity function in Audio Unit, try to turn off "Ignore Velocities" in the settings. (The default is enable because GarageBand sends velocities randomly.) This app has the following modules. Oscillator - Oscillator Type A (Frequency Modulation) - Oscillator Type B (Pulse Width Modulation) - Super Saw Oscillator - Low Frequency Oscillator - LFO Type B (Tempo Synchronization) - Noise Generator (White/Pink) Mixer/Amplifier - 4 Channel Mixer - CV Mixer - Crossfader - Voltage-Controlled Amplifier - Low Pass Gate - Sample-and-Hold Amplifier - Booster Envelope/Logic - Envelope Generator Type A - Envelope Generator Type B - Toggle - Inverting Circuit - Logical And (Series Switch) - Logical Or (Parallel Switch) - Polyphonic Or Gate - Maximum/Minimum Selector Modulator - Curve Function - Multiplier - V/Oct Vibrator - Keyboard Level Scaling - Ring Modulator - Wave Shaper Filter/Effector - Voltage-Controlled Filter (LPF/HPF/BPF/BEF) - All-Pass Filter - Delay Effector - Modulated Delay - Reverb Filter (KQ) - Reverb Filter (FreeVerb) - Compressor - Chorus Effector - Flanger - Bit Crusher Clock - Loop Gate (Tempo Synchronization) - 8 Step Sequencer - 8 Step CV Sequencer - 8 Step Gate Sequencer Stereo/Mono Converter - Mono To Dualmono - Stereo To Mono - Panner Miscellaneous - Custom Controller - Const Value - Oscilloscope If you feel it sounds noisy, slow or stuttering, try to decrease polyphony, increase buffer size and reduce connected modules. Introducing Audiobus support: Now you can stream live audio directly to other Audiobus-compatible apps! See http://audiob.us for more information. Ableton Link is a new technology that synchronizes beat, phase and tempo of Ableton Live and Link-enabled iOS apps over a wireless network. Reviews of KQ MiniSynth

  • Great update to a gem of an app!

Very welcome additions to this fun modular app. Keep up the good work.
  • Excellent modular synth w/ excellent support

This synth is very powerful and works without much fuss if you are use to routing. Dev was extremely responsive when I had an issue and released a fix for it quickly.

Synth takes low resources which is great. I wish I could midi map to all/more of the knobs in my patch but there is more than enough to get something good going.
  • Awesome synth

I LOVE this soft synth. So much fun to experiment with. There are very limited instructions so you are really forced to try new things and see what happens, which is cool.

Very realistic and detailed. You can learn all about signal paths and how modules effect one another, without having to set up a whole eurorack. I love the sounds I can get out of my patches and have sampled them many times!
