  • What happened

This used to be my favorite tracker app and now it is quite literally unusable. For the past week the app has not opened at all. It would either crash or stay in a loading page indefinitely. Now, the format has changed so much that it is virtually impossible to figure out how to use. I cannot track my reading anymore, the app is glitchy and crashes all the time, and everything that I loved about the app is gone.

The book pages are now not usable at all, about half of the information is off screen with no way to access it, there’s no way to start a reading session, and there’s no way to even exit the book pages. Incredibly upsetting as I truly love this app and there’s no comparable apps out there. I love tracking my reading and not being able to is incredibly upsetting.

  • Whaaaat happened?

Originally I would give this app 5 Stars…however that’s no longer the case. I’ve been enjoying this app for many years and loved the ease of use…but the latest update has totally destroyed it! The format is so bad. Everything is overlapping everything else and parts are blown up so big they are off-screen! When I click on a book, I cannot find any place to start a new reading session and the parts off-screen are inaccessible…there’s no way to scroll side to side to bring them into full view. Plus, I cannot go back to the Home Screen as there’s no back arrow (except on books I’ve already completed). The only way I can get back to the Home Screen again is to close the app and reopen it.
All my archived books are now in the same list as my current reads which is a pain in the rear, especially since the book I’m currently reading is literally the very last on the list.
PLEASE return it to the way it was! This is COMPLETELY unusable and a total disaster right now! 😢

  • Thank you for the update!

This is one of those apps that I just love. It does its job well and is focused on doing that one job well. During the iOS 18 beta I could never get Leio to launch and the recent update at least gets things running. A couple of glitches I’ve noted right off: the app doesn’t handle the top area of the iOS screen correctly so the time and service icons remain showing when you scroll and the app crashes every time I try to move a book to a shelf. I am confident the kinks will be ironed out and I would happily pay again for a solid update they stays true to the original vision of Leio!

Thank you for your review! So what's missing for that fifth star?
  • Unnecessary Changes

This app was perfectly designed with everything laid out and easy to find. Want to have a reading session? Click on the title and hit read. Want to look at past reading sessions? Click on the book and then reading sessions. Now, everything is hidden away behind over-simplified buttons.

The reading sessions are out of order. I am unable to sort them by date. This was supposed to be the do-it-all tracker that I pay for. Now I’m better off manually tracking my reading in excel.

The app is now littered with bugs. I’m now unable to add a book through scanning the barcode on the back. “All Book” is empty. I can’t easily see my list of archived books either. What’s the deal?

  • Do not use!!!

Update: The app is now unusable with the IOS18 update. I’ve been trying all day and was only able to open the app one time after deleting and redownloading and power cycling my phone multiple times. When I was able to open it, I found all of my data erased including books I was in the middle of and all of my backups. I tried to reach out to the developers months ago as requested only to be ignored or have my email bounce back. I am officially giving up Leio and will no longer be recommending it. Very sad to see such a useful app with unique features become unusable for aesthetic upgrades.

1st Review: This app was amazing and so simple compared to other reading trackers. However, as many are saying, the new update has come with loads of issues that have completely tanked the experience. I was hopeful the devs would work on an update to revert the unnecessary changes since they seem to be responsive to reviews. However, as time continues to pass I am losing faith. Please listen to your fans and revert to your old app that worked!!!

  • Awesome reading app.

I’ve been using Leio for more than six years! This awesome app gives you everything you need to track down and manage your reading, without useless features (like a book social meadia clinging to it). Seriously, I got two masters with it and I’m a philosophy PhD student now! It has helped and helps me a lot.

As I mentioned in my last review (six years ago!) the only essential missing feature is an alarm feature that informs your rest time after like 30 or 45 minutes of reading (or whatever you set). Please work on it!!

The other thing is that when reading, if you wanna know how much you read, you need to unlock your phone. A timer that appears like a notification would be awesome.

  • It’s pretty good, but there is flaws

This app is great for anyone who really likes tracking their reading or wants to set more goals for reading. But however, when I was using it last night, my phone was beside me while I was reading and if you don’t keep constantly tapping on your phone when the stopwatch is going, then your phone will shut off and you will have to restart the timer. I like this app for all the goals, but then when I read at night, My phone will probably be in other places which is my fault but I don’t wanna go up and get it so when I read, it’s untracked reading so it’ll make my time off. You have to constantly keep tapping your screen when it turns dim or or else your phone shut off and you have to unpause the timer. I also do not really like how they have to make you pay to add different additions to this app. It should all be free because mean it’s a reading app not a game..

  • Reading Data

    The Good
This is a great app if you want to track your reading progress. From time, pace & reading sessions to the books, lengths & quotes. You can even set goals for reading & scheduling. I genuinely love how in depth it is able to go with my reading data. The graphs are nice visuals. The little stickers for milestones & tasks are a nice touch. The layout is very intricate & took some time to find everything. Once I played around in the app I was able to find everything.

    The Bad
There are small bugs that are displeasing. If you want to see your time & pages on the leaderboard board with Game Center then you have to turn it on. You’ll have to continuously check to make sure it’s one before you start a reading session because it turns itself off. If settings are adjusted (turning on Game Center) then they shouldn’t adjust or toggle themselves. But that’s just me. When it comes to planning, you can schedule to read a book. It doesn’t appear in the scheduled pages even though it tells you to do that.

  • Does The Job

Works well! Ngl I’ve never had premium but certainly will get the lifetime subscription whenever I get the funds to LOL. It’s not badly priced at all it’s really fair just dont have that much of a disposable income rn. I’ve had this app for 4 years and love the customization/practicality of it. I will say though, the bugs have gotten worse overtime especially this year. Like right now after the most recent update I have issues with after a reading session not being able to hit ‘save’ so I have to close the app and manually enter in how long I read for etc, right now I can’t even create a book to currently read!!!!, and sometimes the app just closes the second I open it. It’s been extremely frustrating, I’m fine with some but right now I’m dealing with 3 bugs on and off. Wish you could report it inside the app like … is giving me issues. I love this app but I wanna be able to add something to my reading list right now and can’t

  • The 2024 April 18 update makes Leio unusable

The app literally no longer allows me to end reading sessions. The "Save" button is gone. The reading tracker app Leio can no longer be used to track reading. And even if it could, the goals tab no longer tracks anything with any accuracy: even before this, my monthly page goal stopped updating, my weekly hour goal started showing the past seven days instead of the current week ahead (making it equivalent to a daily goal), my yearly books-read goal doesn't budge when I archive a finished book. And the statistics tab is equally untrustworthy: in the 2024 section, for example, it reports me finishing about 60 more books this year than I have (I think it's reporting the number of total books I've ever finished in the app, not just those finished so far this year). I'd love to export all my data and maybe try to start over with a new app, but that crashes Leio. I'm genuinely sad things have gotten this bad.
