Wasting money

Poor Now, Has Potential

Video too slow to react. Audio sporadic. Taken away video storage unless you subscribe and pay. Never delivered on allowing you to lock/unlock door remotely. I would recommend you look at other products on the market.

Hi there. Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry you aren't having a good experience with Gate. We did move to a subscription-based storage plan as we faced a significant costs for storage. We tried to make the fees as low as possible. We are also working on adding the remote unlock feature and it would be compatible with existing hardware and not require a subscription plan. Not reliable

Notification of motion is slow... and sometimes does not happen.
Notifications of low batteries sometimes do not occur.
I don’t like that we now have to pay an additional fee to see the video!!

Has Gate given up on making this product work?

Read the reviews, lots of issues no fixes. When are you going to start fixing all the problems? Make it work as advertised!

This thing is a joke

Bought this lock off of Indiegogo and it took forever to ship. One I received it I had nothing but problems. Keypad codes wouldn't work, people got locked out, camera feed was super delayed, battery was saying it was dead when fully charged, two way audio was horrible. Support was helpful initially and they even sent a replacement lock, but that one didn't work either. App was super buggy from the get go. Finally just chalked it up as a loss and bought a Nest Hello and Yale X Lock such has been so much better. Take my advice look elsewhere.

EVEN WORSE than my last review

No fix for the issue with the battery telling me it’s low even though i just charged it, and now since iOS 12, despite updates and uninstalling the app and reinstalling, it just get a black screen with audio when i try to watch a recorded motion video. you guys literally have one job. why is this so hard to fix?

App needs work

The app itself is almost useless, the notifications are super slow and it constantly logs me out for no reason which has just become a nuisance at this point. Seems to always be WiFi connection issues and it’s supposed to notify you when to charge which it doesn’t do too bad at.

The product itself: I bought this because it packs all the features you could want into one device but should have waited for a second gen. First one I had broke within a few days and they sent me a new one free of charge. New one still works but sometime it doesn’t rotate all the way when unlocking. The video isn’t too bad, the motion video can not be turned off so it picks up a bunch of useless videos. Can’t speak to the other features as I don’t use them. It can take a while for new pins to be able to be used once added just a heads up, not an instant process.

Crap product

Bought smart gate lock less than 2 months back. It was buggy all throughout. Now it just died. No help available online. Very disappointed.

Not ready for prime time

I’ve had for about 6 months now. Pin works, but that’s about it. Latency is terrible so the ring/video function is unusable. Video and sound quality is terrible and about once a month the battery decides it’s just going to fair after 8 hours of use requiring me to re-setup to fix, which I assume means it’s some backend or firmware issue. Significant improvements required soon or I’ll just have to try out another smart lock from a more established company. Also, please give some insight into roadmap. In-app “what’s new” hasn’t been updated in forever and zero transparency into prioritization.

Very disappointed.

For a smart lock it isn’t very smart. You can only lock/unlock when there is motion. When someone pushes the call button it alerts you, but good luck getting it to connect and talk to them. The pin access seems to work, but you could get a pin lock for a lot less.
