IPA and pronunciation doesnโ€™t match

Overall, the app offers a wide range of vocabulary to learn daily. However, the pronunciation and IPA transcriptions for some words donโ€™t always align. Additionally, some words have multiple meanings, but the app provides only one example per word.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights. We're always looking for ways to improve our app, so we really appreciate it!

Good app but needs work

Well designed, clean, looks great and it gives excellent words. The words it suggests seem carefully considered and many are usable in everyday conversation. But the app is buggy. And when I get it to say the word out loud quite a lot of the pronunciations are hilariously wrong, which is frustrating because I canโ€™t trust the pronunciation it gives so I have to web search it myself. And sometimes the word is speaks out loud isnโ€™t even the correct word. And then they want me to pay ยฃ4.99 a month for that. Theyโ€™re having a laugh. Iโ€™d subscribe if the app was well polished. It has so much potential.

Hi there! Our development team is aware of the issue and is currently working to resolve this. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience and feedback!

Good but words change too frequently.

I got this app yesterday and I donโ€™t typically leave reviews, however this app has quite a big flaw for me. I love that you can like and favourite words and can even add such buttons to Home Screen widgets.

Despite this the major flaw with the widgets is there is a new word whenever you come out of an app. I would rather have the same word for a few hours/a day than there constantly being a new one.

I use the free version consequently meaning I canโ€™t use the practice tool to help retain the words and definitions. Thus, having the words for a longer period of time would be more useful. Alternatively, it would be nice if you could alter the frequency of words in settings but there is no such option as of now.

Thank you for writing to us. To choose how often the words in the widgets are refreshed, you can go to Settings, then Home screen widgets and add a new setting. Within the widget settings, you will see that you can choose between different refresh rate ranges. Once you have added the settings, you can long-press on a widget on your home screen and edit it to choose these new settings. Write us at hello@monkeytaps.app if this solution doesn't work for you and we'll help you get it right.

App is great, examples are oddly sexist?

Ok I actually showed this to several people wondering if I was sensitive and weโ€™re all in agreement. Everyday, when it provides me a word, the sample sentence is very oddly sexist - like the word โ€œcarpโ€ being used to describe an annoying nagging wife when there are so many other uses of the word carp. If it happens once or twice, itโ€™s unnoticeable, but when every single day the example sentence is something oddly and subtly sexist, it feels like itโ€™s a literal design choice. Arenโ€™t you as a company considering what sentences your including for these, and some of the insinuations that might come alongside? Itโ€™s become a sort of game in my social circle, where we all vote if the sentence is sexist, and almost everytime we all agree it is.
An example from this week that felt like a tired misogynistic cliche -
CYCLOTHYMIC
(ADJ.) HAVING MOOD SWINGS BETWEEN HAPPY AND SAD.
(โ€œHER CYCLOTHYMIC NATURE KEPT US GUESSING.โ€)

Please Add Search Bar And Synonyms

I downloaded this app to assist me with expanding my vocabulary. I do enjoy how customisable the app is, the option to choose categories, number of words and difficulty as well as customising its appearance.
However it would be great if a search bar was added so you could search words to learn their meaning and pronunciation, as well as synonyms being shown for all words!

I have only started.

I love this app so far, it helps me with learning new words and I quite like the different designs you make the font. I also quite enjoy is the ability to change the background of a text to a picture!

I have only now had the app a day but I love it!๐Ÿค

Better than I thought! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I was pleasantly surprised by how effective this app is! When I initially downloaded this app I had my doubts, but I quickly found myself proven wrong. As an aspiring novelist eager to improve my writing, I needed a tool that could truly enhance my vocabulary. This app operates seamlessly, presenting each word with a polished but easy-to-understand definition; even with a sentence example:) โ€œVocabularyโ€ also includes a few aesthetic icons and backgrounds to choose from ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ. My only suggestion would be to include multiple definitions for each word to offer more comprehensive insights. Nonetheless, I completely recommend this app for anyone looking to expand their vocabulary!
