  • Enthusiastic naturalist

I’ve just started using this a couple of weeks ago and I’m hooked! Very easy to use, great that there is photo recognition built in, helps build my confidence. Would recommend
  • User friendly and informative

Great way of keeping records and making sure they actually matter. Highly recommended.
  • Quick hassle free recording

This is so quick and simple to use. Definitely encourages me to submit records. Great that I can lock the settings to send in multiple records for a site.
  • Superb app BUT “edit” simply does not work

Great app in as far as, quick look up, lots of choice of status and clear layout. BUT… if you make a simple mistake and you hit upload already, you’re in a world of pain because then you have to go to the website in a browser and when you click “edit this entry”, the next page freezes, the map disappears and if you do get to eventually change the entry, the submit button is completely dead (sometimes a refresh page works) When I managed to finally edit a spotted date, it still shows the wrong date in the app. When I finally managed to change a bird name, it still shows the wrong name in the app. If it’s doing the same at the collation end, I worry the wrong data is getting collected. The app is great, superb, but let us edit a mistake from within the app please.

  • The best way to record wildlife sightings

It’s simple and easy to use, and you have the satisfaction of knowing your observations go to experts for verification and feed through to all the right organisations so they can be used in science. I love how, with this app, a simple wildlife sighting becomes part of a powerful tool for nature conservation.

  • Clear layout

This provides that the biodiversity in the UK can be easily kept on a record system. The app is easy to navigate and records are kept where you can keep track of what you have recorded. Uploading is simple to complete.

The only disadvantage is that when you upload to a site, I wish it would have an option which allows you to go back to previous sites so you don’t have to find the particular same site again.

It’s all good though. Great app which helps to maintain records of our biodiversity. I would recommend.

  • Good fun, but needs to link across devices

I really like iRecord: the fact that you can take part in citizen science is appealing, and having to take an interest in accurate identification before upload is good. One thing: having created an account, to be able to share records across the app on different devices would be useful, so that “the list” would be available whichever was to hand.

  • Mating Pale Tussock Moth

Always useful to record for future reference.
At present I am unable to download from camera due to
updating messed up my system. I don’t know how to rectify
things without having to re-download my whole library - nuisance because it takes forever. Otherwise the facility is a great idea.
  • Perfect for amateur Nature recorders

I am new to this app and love it for making the chore of submitting records so easy. I started using it for a community plant and wildlife survey which is now taking place on an individual basis because of the epidemic restrictions. But I also run a moth trap and the way the app locks in my location is really handy as is the predictive system on species’ names which makes recording much quicker and automatically includes the Linnaean name. So a big thank you to the creators and maintainers!

  • Brilliant

I love this app! It’s late autumn so I’ve recently been recording lots of fungi, but I’ve also been able to retro-record sightings from months ago. It would be great if we could add our video clips for extra ID material, especially with birds.
