No longer compatible with ifd trainer
This latest version 10.2 of the Ifd100 does not work with the ifd trainer which is already on 10.3
I was hoping for so much more
I launch the app and am greeted with the Jeppesen sign in page. The iPad folio keyboard is not recognized so I disconnect the iPad from the keyboard to enter my Jeppesen account information. Now I am presented with a list of my subscriptions. I click on one and am NOT given the databases to select from. Instead, at some random interval, the IFD100 app goes into IFD mode with none of the IFR data available. At this point, the app is completely useless. Of course, it scares me that this same buggy software is what powers my IFD440 and IFD550 in flight. That may be an extreme statement borne our of frustration, but this sure doesn’t instill confidence on first launch. Happy to revise my rating and review if this on-boarding experience would actually work.

Must Have
A must have for anyone using Avidyne IFDs! A real game changer! Check out the BaronPilot channel on YouTube to see it in action.
IFD 100
I just love this app. It works just as it is supposed to. I enter all my frequencies on this app. Entering or deleting waypoints is a snap. I use it all the time in flight. It’s like having another “free” IFD in your plane. Thank you Avidyne!!
IFD540
This app is great! You can do all your flight planning, load every route or trip you think you’ll take, & connect via WiFi in the plane & they automatically populate the route list! It saves SOO much time that would otherwise require sitting there idling your engine, & spinning your Hobbs meter. The flight plan feature with the Map tab allows you to see exactly where each V- or Jet route goes, select an entry & exit point, & see every airspace you may transit. Not to mention the remote tuning abilities for radios, transponder...everything. This app does it all. Two thumbs up!

No such thing as too much glass
This app is the perfect complement to Avidyne’s panel mount units. Ability to view different screens, easily zoom maps, and a host of other features really set it apart. Don’t miss this one!
Pilot
Excellent
This must have app REALLY brings the IFD 440 alive. By mirroring and greatly enlarging the display and expansion of input fields, gives an excellent visual and a host of multitasking-like options to the pilot ... with these amazing GPS's.
- pilot inputs to the iPad, transfer to the panel mount and vice versa.
- Touch-screens are active on both screens, enable pilot alternative screens. One can take the iPad to any other screen option running in the background on the panel mount just like it's a second Gps. One can switch both back to or from the screen on the panel mount gps that's driving the autopilot.
- On the iPad, pilot can research ahead...adsb weather, study runways, approach options, adjust/add waypoints, in flight or build flight plans while in your motel for tomorrow's flight.
Syncs automatically when back together in the cockpit.
- some inputs i.e. frequency flip flops, must be engaged at the panel to provide protections avoid mistakes.
Very easy to set up when you know this....
- With the current Jeppesen flight data subscription loaded on your 440/540, and the IFD app downloaded to your iPad app via regular home WIFI, tap to load the IFD 100. Jeppesen screen pops up. Lower right hand corner tap "download". Put in your Jeppesen password, download the EXACT nav data version as on your panel mount IFD. Very important. Also download to gain proficiency and learn the IFD from the simulator in the App Store.

Doesn't work and UI is a mess
Can't get navigation databases loaded. When logging into my Jeppesen account, it just says "Requesting Avidyne Services" and then times out. Tried dozens of times. The UI looks like it was thrown together in 30 minutes; certainly doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in something to be used in an airplane cockpit.
