Description of Candle

Create a safe and relaxing ambiance from your phone with a click – no matches needed. You might have noticed that other candle apps just show an image or animation of a candle, but the effect they give doesn't come at all close to a real candle. This app is different because it uses a carefully calibrated algorithm to simulate the lighting effects of a real candle. If you point your phone at a wall or some other surface you'll be able to see shadows move and the light flicker gently and naturally. You can also change the color for a variety of moods. Note that smaller iOS devices in particular don't give off as much light as a real candle, so this app won't light your room but the effect does come close. We hope you like it!

  • Good, but shame you can see the clock

It’s a really great idea, not the obvious side of a candle that doesn’t really work. We used this on holiday a few years ago because it was very dark sitting outside, and there were no candles, so this app was perfect for adding a bit of ambience. Sadly when I went to use it again a year later, I was disappointed the phone’s clock and home buttons were visible along with some settings icons, which ruined the effect and made it look like an iPhone with a random circle, and not the top of a candle in a pot. If you could add an option to hide the interface elements, this app would be perfect and 5-star!

  • Closest Thing to Candle Light

Use it to read Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road” while dozing in your backpacking tent under the moon shadows of Jeffrey Pines. I’m surprised this is the only candle app that simulates the glow, flicker, and movement of the flame of a candle.

If I could make feature requests I’d ask for a version where you can make the background light up too and follow the flicker pattern of the circle, that way it could be a little brighter while still maintaining the movement of the flame. Maybe make it so the volume buttons up and down affect the overall brightness.

I appreciate the simplicity of the app, its simple name and icon, lack of complex features, simple graphical appearance. Candles are simple. The app is simple.
