Lumix s5iix

I have just been playing around with it for a couple days. It’s well worth the price, as a cell phone / field monitor holder is around the same price haha.

A lot of functionality, scopes/af / wave forms/ it’s quite impressive.

As for connecting consistently: 1. Turn camera on, go to wifi, turn on connection to phone
2. On phone connect through wifi to your camera
3. Open the Lumix app / either works (it’ll confirm it’s under control)
4. Open field monitor app.
5. Be impressed for its price.

G85

This app has taken my G85 video rig to the next level.
Seem less and professional
Thank you

Response from developer

Thank you, kind Sir!

needs an update for recent cameras

The app doesn't seem to work with the recent sony cameras that do not use imagin edge, like the zve1, a6700, a7 R5 that use the creator's app instead.
Great app otherwise, but really needs an update !

So laggy. Freezing.

Canon M50. iPhone 11 as monitor. Very laggy and the feed only lasts for a few seconds before it freezes. This really lets the app down. All the other features are great but if you can’t see what your filming in real time it renders it unusable. Tried all the tips and tricks listed in the notes but to no avail. Very pricey for how bad it operates. Kinda feel duped.

Sorry you feel duped. I try to make it clear that you should test performance with your camera's free native app before buying FieldMonitor, but sometimes that message doesn't get through. Not sure what it is about your setup that's causing the problem, but the symptoms you describe typically occur in very crowded RF environments with many Wi-Fi networks and high network congestion / interference. FWIW I've run FieldMonitor with the M50 Mk II and it worked fine. If you can't make it work you should ask Apple for a refund.

Worth the price

Life saver. Panasonic doesn’t offer external monitor support on the G7 and their official app doesn’t offer full screen monitoring (why???). You could shell out $300 for an atomos recorder (more than I paid for the camera body), or you could spend $20 on this very capable app. It’s surprising usable. I’m not sure if you could rely on this for super professional work, but for my use case it does the job. It seems like the developer maintains the app fairly well, so hopefully this can be a good long term solution for me. Keep up the good work!

Dual Screen

Testing iPad 2 and iPhone 13. I tried messaging will have to email, but I was trying to run both off of one camera. I am also still inquiring over black magic? (GH4 GH5 BMPCC4 cams I use)

Super low quality image

Is it suppose to be so blurry, and laggy i have a 13 pro so it cant be my phone 😩

Handy and easy to use.

I use Lumix cameras. Mostly my directors monitor is a very bright and sharp one by way of a Hollyland wifi setup. For a second camera I can give the director my iPad showing this app. It is very quick to get going and you can turn off the camera controls to free up the screen. Much easier than the Panasonic apps. The only extra I’d like is to be able to see time code.

Thanks for the review! Unfortunately the camera does not send timecode over Wi-Fi as far as I can tell, so I can't display it.

good, could be better?

Recent update broke support for my Sony X70 cams, app is useless to me now, very disappointed.

True to its name

Was looking for a simple monitor for my a6400 and this puts my iPad to work very nicely. Lag is negligible. What controls are available for my Sony are nice to have, but the monitoring function is used here primarily for framing checks during live streaming. As the developer suggests, take a few minutes to suss out his site (videos etc.) before you purchase. (If you fiddle with menu settings on the (Sony) camera while connected, the connection will time out).
