Subscription for basic services

The free version of the app only shows details for the last data transmission, it does not provide any history.
This is fine but it’s not exactly made clear when deciding to purchase a blue connect. Previews of the app show the full functionality, even the picture on the blue connect box shows the full version. When evaluating a blue connect device you know the upfront costs of the equipment, the options available, and it’s pretty easy to identify that you will probably have to replace the battery & sensor probe at maybe 2 years, and all these factors are taken into consideration when making the decision to purchase. Now I have purchased & set it up, to find I have to pay an annual subscription fee to make the system work as it’s portrayed in the marketing material. Disappointing. Using the blue connect with the free version of the app is pointless, it’s just a gimmick, an expensive electronic test strip that measures less parameters than normal test strips.
Also why does the (free) app limit how many times I can take a measurement from the device to two? (“Premium version = 20). I’m using Bluetooth only so it’s not like I’m being charged for network access, simply connecting one Bluetooth device I paid for to another Bluetooth device I paid for. Here’s a comparison, I have a fronius solar inverter which came with a free app to monitor, which showed all the basic stuff. To upgrade to the pro version of the app which provided all measurements and history was a one off cost of $4.99. This was 5 years ago. I looked it up to check the price because I had forgotten, and low and behold now their pro version is free.
Update- it seems the restriction of 2 Bluetooth measurements per day has been lifted, not sure to how many but I can do multiple on one day which works a lot better for me. The developer did reach out to me but I didn’t answer. With the ability to take a measure at my leisure the usability is greatly increased and now I find the device quite useful, I have increased my rating from 1 star to 4.

No Alkalinity

Does not measure Alkalinity. Hard to get PH right if Alkalinity is out. Retail box shows Alkalinity as a unit of measurement.

Hello, we are very sorry for the misunderstanding with the app visual. There is indeed a mistake on the screenshot of the box. We corrected the packaging as soon as we noticed it but unfortunately you came across a packaging version with the error. I would like to precise that the 4 key parameters (temperature, pH, ORP/Redox, Conductivity) analyzed by the device are well explained also on that retail box. To be clear, the device does not have an alkalinity sensor however, if you make a test strip and insert the results in the app, the app will give you the advices to correct the alkalinity.

Great System... when it works

The app crashes on me at least twice a day; and, I have the full subscription. Ugh!

Really bad

I bought the regular one. Basically the measurements are always off. It’s a “direction” but really doesn’t work.

Monetization is also a flop. I made the mistake of buying the normal version on amazon just because I didn’t realize there was the same model with the subscription. Doesn’t make sense to pay 150$ more for a lifetime subscription as opposed to $49 yearly.. of course I would have $150 if they clearly announced that the $200 only gave you 3 miserable measures and you can’t set it up for automatic measures. That before I realized that it doesn’t work..
Was such a fan in the beginning but now I’ll keep it floating to know the water temperature.. that’s it. Change the business model and you might get advocates

Excellent, Super Easy to Use Product

I bought a Blue Connect Plus during the COVID-19 pandemic because the local pool supply stores were not offering water tests. Using test strips and matching colours to determine the readings I knew wouldn’t be very reliable. Wow, was I glad I purchased one. Super easy to use and the Bluetooth between phone app and unit allows you to take a water test anytime you want. Pool was sparkling clean all summer and I used way less chemicals compared to when I had my water tested at the pool supply stores.

Not working & no support

Bought via Amazon. Less than a year old and now not working. Not happy.

Good app

My pool isn’t followed. I changed battery. It is looking for the floating device but doesn’t connect. It cannot find it. Bluetooth is on. What is going on. A solution is desirable. Its of no use if it does not work. The pool is showing up but there it says network down when it isn’t. Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Why is Alkalinity witheld from the sampling? This is vital in the scheme of things. Update the app to include this feature, after all this is how it is depicted on the box of the blue riot plus product. False advertising?

Fantastic system when it works

The Blu Connect devices are show a convenient way to measure water quality levels. Mine was working fine but recently I am having issues with my premium subscription not working correctly in the app. I’m also not sure the ph levels are accurate as they are showing as 0.5 lower than my Palintest photometer. I’ve purchased the calibration kit so I hope this will fix it.

Poor customer service

Unresponsive, ignorant and second rate customer service. I had to return the item. They seem to have no knowledge of their own app and product. Poor customer service.

Language fixed in 3.3.5

Version 3.3.4 switched from English to French.

Version 3.3.5 has fixed the problem and switched back to English.

Thanks for the quick fix.
