AmpliFi WiFi User Reviews

Pointless

No devices load, despite having several nearby, even 6cm away, Bluetooth all on. Waste of time opening an account. Deleted. The reviews must be family of developer.

Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at help@amplifi.com? We'll get you up and running.

Reliable and long-lasting router

We bought and installed the amplifi router 3.5 years ago to replace the crappy router provided by Spectrum. It takes full advantage of the speed available and has no trouble handling a couple dozen WiFi devices and a half dozen Ethernet connections (TVs, security cameras, computers). I need to reboot the router occasionally if it starts dropping connections to laptops and tablets on WiFi. But that generally solves the issue unless it is actually a problem upstream with Spectrum. App seems fairly functional but I would like it if the reboot function was easier to get too - it seems to take me a few minutes to find it every time since it’s usually several months between times it is necessary. Mesh system works great to cover the garage and bedroom furthest from the main router.

IGMP proxy service for IPTV!

Their so-called Advanced GUI says -> Disable if WiFi calling not working!

Based on my 3+ months stressful time trying to trouble-shoot their Alien router, I finally came up with a solution to prevent ALL my Apple gadgets, iPhone, iPad Pro, 2 x HomePods 2nd gen, 2 x HomePods mini, and many HomeKit smart devices, etc etc NOT to drop off my network!

And, that was to disable this dumb feature!

Everything magically started working 100%. Specially, my Stereo HomePods connected to ATV without every 30 minutes dropping one HomePod!

FWIW, my IPTV service still works without this mysterious feature which their developers thought it was a good idea to ship their routers with this option enabled!

No wonder people prefer eero! Because, it just works right out of the box!

Good job Ubiquiti. I really enjoy my new router 🙂

Latest router update killed speeds

Updated router, now I just use mobile data, speeds are so slow it takes a min to just start a YouTube video at 360p. How do I use older firmware?

The App makes this worth it

I was using Linksys Velop and the App experience to navigate that really pricey wireless mesh system was garbage, it was slow at times unresponsive not user friendly and crashed constantly. This app by Amplify is incredible, a breath of fresh air. Set up was in fact less than a minute as advertised it found the mesh access point by itself without me needing to fiddle with it. I’m super impressed and excited about my internet!

Flawed Device & Flawed App with Disengaged Developers

I don't generally "get in the thread" on products, but this one is different.

I live in an urban environment with over 80 wifi networks and emergency radio equiment within 100 feet of my apartment.

I live in a small 680 sq ft appartment and I had to purchase a second alien router to create a semi-reliable wifi network.

This app is lacking, the device is buggy and the support for this product is disengaged. I have shared diagnostic logs and feedback about the router and the app on multiple occasions. The responses are dismissive and vauge. In some cases they try to gaslight me to avoid any responsiblity for their lack of planning and implementation.

The router's screen is helpful, however it turns off randomly, ignores "night mode." and I find I have to power cycle them often to improve wifi reliability.

The app lacks summary information. like device connection health, information displayed on the device that helps troubleshoot and identify weak spots... is NOT carried over to the app for some reason.

Developers say "it's designed to be a simple product." which I find odd, nothing about gamers, who this product is targeted suggest they are looking for "simple" in the tech they use.

I'm writing this review to draw attention to a trend with tech companies releasing half-baked products forcing consumers to become unpaid beta testers.

Avoid this product until the ratings improve.

a great product / simply works!

we install a lot of these, and they are great! but we have several clients where we have installed 7-10 additional antennas... the app doesn’t do a great job of displaying which antennas are connecting to which... signal strength is displayed when you look at each antenna, but a good “map” or layout would be better and GREATLY appreciated!! love the product, but a layout would be hugely appreciated... little dots just don’t cut it.

Ok router, poor app

I can’t imagine this company actually hired real designers to build their app because it is very difficult to use if you are not in your 20s with perfect vision. The tiny light gray font used throughout much of the interface is nearly impossible to read, the icons, and the use of space throughout the app is inconsistent, and sometimes even ugly. It is a very poorly designed app.

I wish people and companies who made apps like this spent more time on useability rather than just style. At the very least, if this company just followed Apple‘s most basic design guidelines, this review wouldn’t be necessary.

Teleport integration

Do you advise that we remove the stand alone Teleport app now that the main app includes this feature?

Response from developer

Thank you for your question. In the long term, yes, we are planning to sunset the Teleport mobile app.
