  • Amazing app with a couple of annoying flaws

Great app for iPhones that rely on screenshots for safe IV checking. Have used for long time now and mostly very happy. Raid teams are great, logical layout. My issues are: occasionally it will read a mon wrong ie. diglett previously scanned at 96% before the big CP change up... now pokegenie reads it lower but thinks it is level 20.5 instead of 20.... but it won’t let me manually correct this down to level 20 and tells me there are no IV combinations found. Very frustrating and makes me wonder if I have deleted any other great mons because of a false low reading. The other thing that annoys me is..... Why I still can’t check defence movesets for legendary mons.... this made sense when they had no defence role but as they now can be used in pvp...??? Why can’t I check their movesets for best defence? If they fixed these two issues, the app would be awesome!! (PS. I think the in-app purchases are quite reasonable)

  • Auto scan broken

Auto scan does not correctly limit itself to screenshots but tries to scan all photos in my library, which would take days to complete.
  • Super helpful

Great for so many reasons...from the battle sim to find your best counters, to the IV charts to find your best pokemon, to the power up/evolution sim to make the best use of your candies and dust. I only use the free version and the ads are not at all intrusive or problematic to functionality.

My only complaint is the cumbersome system of screenshotting and inputting the appraisal for accurate IVs....I realize you don't necessarily have to input appraisals but it is important for accuracy. I do appreciate that the screenshot method keeps pokegenie entirely separate from pokemon go since niantic has been infamously displeased by and strict on anything that overlays into the actual game.

I currently have input 599 pokemon into pokegenie...and that's not including the countless number I have transfered and deleted. That's over 600 screenshots, 600+ appraisals...wow! I think that really goes to show how useful the app truly is if it makes putting in so much work worth it.

  • Pretty good

Took me a few minutes to poke around and figure out how to use it. The free version won’t let you upload multiple screenshots at once but it’s a minor inconvenience. The battle simulator is a pretty handy feature also.
  • 4.5

this app does almost everything though I would really like to see the 2 Great, 3 Ultra, 5 Best friend IV floors and the 12 IV floor for lucky pokemon integrated in toggle filters in the same fashion as the High IV toggle for Hatched/research encounter/raid pokemon toggle (which eliminates IV combinations which feature anything under 10). I have made this suggestion to the developers and never heard anything.
Of lesser importance since its so difficult to percieve the times it actually matters: Ideal max total stat IV configurations, usually with low attack IVs and high Defense (and/or less often hp), are known for pvp purposes. It would be nice to have those available on the calculator tab, or better yet a pvp percentage.
All that being said there is no other app that comes close to the utility this app already provides and I highly recommend it to anyone.

  • Incredibly useful app

Poke Genie saves me so much time and effort that I simply can't imagine playing PoGo without it. Auto scan is worth the money - screen reading would be nice but I realise iOS doesn't facilitate that.

I don't really battle/raid enough to make paying for the battle stimulator worthwhile at the current price point. The basic functionality in the battle system suits my needs.

Of course I have a wishlist!:

A gym badge XP calculator would be handy to show how many raids/battles/berries you are from the next level.

The ability to feed in a screenshot to give a rough estimate of CP before catching can be very useful when resources like pokeballs are tight.

It would be nice, when you scan an evolved pokemon, to have the system check the unevolved forms and ask 'did you evolve this from <mon>', or have the ability to 'evolve' in the app to link the mons together.

I don't know how easy any of these would be to implement and you don't lose any stars for not doing them 😂

  • A Must Have for Trainers!

This app does everything you could possibly need for PoGo! It measures IV’s reliably, provides your best raid counters, sorts your mons, shows you future stats for your mons, gives you typing effectiveness, etc. I could go on, but if you haven’t downloaded the app by now, then I don’t know what else will convince you. In fact, show some love to the developer and pay for the full version. It’s completely worth it for no ads and the auto import. Plus, the developer deserves it for making such a great app.

I just thought of one more I absolutely love this app! The developer updates it WITHIN 24 HOURS of major game changes! When the cp rebalance occurred - updated for all mons within a day. When raid bosses change - I know whether I can solo the new tier 3’s by the morning. When the new movesets where released - all the moves were added by the next day.

I cannot say it enough. Get this app and thank the developer by giving him a few dollars.

  • Great PokeRator

I get great value out of this app. Let’s me make the decision of who to transfer, who to evolve and who to power up easier.

I can split my Pokemon by type, move, maximum HP and various other splits. Which means less Pokemon to look through when making a particular decision.

I can’t imagine playing PokemonGo without this app now.

  • No updates for CP rework...

It's super disappointing that the CP rework values weren't implemented in the applications, so you either take a new screenshot of EVERY SINGLE POKEMON (1500+ in my case) if you want the new CP values to display or you aimlessly have to try and figure out which Pokémon is which and that's obviously just pure rubbish! Sure they would be in the same order as they were before but if you deleted a few, then you would manually have to check them out one by one to find it which one is which...

Thanks to the devs laziness because they could've easily updated ALL bloody stats by now with their hands tied to their backs but they just don't feel like... Interesting that all the other scanners managed to do an update but only Poke Genie didn't.....

On top of all this you cannot even get support because if you write them you will just get an automated message with no useful info...

Hi! Quoted below is the email reply to your inquiry: "Thank you for upgrading. Poke Genie requires new screenshots after CP rebalance for 2 main reasons: 1. Maintain consistency between screenshot and scan information. 2. Refine IV combinations with the new information after CP rebalance. I'd recommend enabling auto scan without background scan, then batch screenshot your Pokemon and let Poke Genie automatically import them. There should be minimal input involved if the screenshots are take with CP fully visible."
  • Great app, bad pro upgrade

This is a very useful app, for easily inputting your Pokémon & comparing IVs.
Suggesting teams is so super helpful if you have the time to use it, but it is not really accurate unless you re-load images of your fighting Pokémon.

The pro upgrade is TERRIBLE though, it relies on you having opened the app in the last three minutes while you are catching Pokémon in PoGo, for it to actually change anything. I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t make the timeframe adjustable.

You also have to pay separately to upgrade the battle pro function

Hi! Thank you for upgrading. Unfortunately the 3-minute background execution time limit is a restriction in the iOS.
