  • Free YouTube videos better than the app

This was a waste of money. I’d give zero stars if I could. There’s a very limited selection of chinese vocabulary to learn and is no better than a flash card for each word, with a finger tracing section. It doesn’t provide any context to the kids for the words they are looking at, nothing to make it interesting to learn. The only good thing about this app is I found the YouTube video as they put up in mostly all English with a featured chinese phrase if the day. The videos were good.

  • The best app so far

My child fell in love with the cartoon on YouTube this summer so we were delighted to learn there was an associated app once school started this fall!! She attends a mandarin immersion school so we use this app as an enrichment tool. Thanks for informing us about how to fix the sound issue. We kept deleting and reinstalling v it going that would fix what we thought was a software bug! So glad there’s a simple explanation and solution -whew!!

Will it be available on androids soon ? She takes my iPhone to play now.

  • Excellent for beginners and native speakers

The quality of the cartoons and app interface are excellent. It’s easy to understand - and if you choose “Learn English” instead of the “Learn Chinese” option, all episodes will be predominantly in Mandarin and intro English words. (As a parent with native speaking kids, this is my preferred option.) I was pleased to partner with Miaomiao and try out their apps.

  • A positive first step

The Miaomiao TV series and apps are great tools to help spark a young child's interest in learning Chinese. Holding positive feelings toward the language and culture is the first step toward embracing opportunities to learn more Chinese in the future. I was happy to collaborate with the Miaomiao team.

  • Quick Response

App had no sound. Got a quick response after writing in. I did not have this issue with other apps ie having to switch ringer to get sound. But appreciate the prompt response.

    Developer Response

Hi Mattie, I believe the issue was resolved via e-mail by our team. It seems you simply had to switch on your ringer button for the sound to come through. For others who are concerned about the sound in this app, it works perfectly fine. You just need to ensure the ringer switch on the side of your iOS device is switched to on. • Good if want your children to learn basic Mandarin

My wife is Chinese and it’s really hard to find good quality apps that introduce children to the language. There are lots of apps, just not many that look very good and that the kids enjoy. With Miaomiao, sometimes I watch the videos with them and I’ll learn a few words myself. And the kids are really into it. Had issues with sound, but when I turned my ringer on everything worked perfectly.

  • Great immersion experience

My two year old is loving this!

There is actually a teaching English section where all the episodes are in Chinese with only 1 word of English so I get my kid to watch those for a full immersion experience. I think parents who want more advanced Chinese would like those episodes better.
  • No sound

No sound coming thru. Would be a good app if you could hear them talk. Waste of money. Tried to send a report, the button is broken and does not work.

    Developer Response

Hello, I think we may have a solution to your problem. We noticed that sometimes people have turned their ringer off with the little button on the side of the iPhone. Once the button is flicked back on, the sound should come through!
