  • Confusing but otherwise good

How the heck do you pay an idea for a contest cost? Usually just end up accidentally using my idea cards
  • Great mood, cool idea, but...

Tutorial is very weak and some cards are hard to read on the phone. Also tends to lock up at times. And it just...ends, no fanfare or story, which is a letdown. Not a bad game at all, just sooo close to being a great one.
  • Great solitaire

This is a unique and immersive solitaire game. The atmosphere with the pictures on the cards and the sounds are really good and the game itself is fun. It really makes you feel like you’re struggling to survive in the snowy wilderness. I hope one day they will make the physical cards for this.
  • Decent but some issues

    1. The symbology is the most confusing I've ever seen in a game. It makes neither intuitive sense nor is properly explained in the instructions.

    2. It makes no sense to have a deck count in the classic game but not in the scenarios. Memorization is not a remotely interesting game mechanic. This really bothers me because deck composition is important. Really bizarre design decision.

    3. Consistent but where, at game end, the screen goes white and freezes.

  • Excellent game!

I’m glad I stumbled upon this game. Even for me as a casual gamer without a ton of time for long gaming sessions, this game is very accessible.

The tutorial is really good, and the instructions explain a few more details. I’ll have to experiment with the “idea cards” a bit more to get the hang of them, but otherwise the game is user friendly and intuitive.

I love the visual/art design, and the overall concept is really clever.

On a smaller device (even an XS Max) you do need to zoom or hold the phone close to see the small text sometimes, but it’s not so bad as to be a deal breaker. Once I get the hang of things I won’t need to zoom anyway probably.

This developer did a great job, and priced it so fairly too. I happily support such a great effort; lots of care went into it and it shows.

    Thank you, developer!

  • Would be great if the text was readable

I really want to love this game, but it’s just got such tiny text it’s almost unreadable. My eyesight is really good and I still need to strain up close to read the tiny text. The poor font and colour on a white background makes it all but unreadable....
So even though a couple of playthroughs made me keen to keep playing it I just gave up because it really took the fun out of it trying to see what the cards and text say...
If the text was larger (which should be easy considering how much large wasted white space is all over the screen layout) it would easily be worth 4 or even 5 stars but unplayable as it is imo

  • Simple Elegance

When the developer said this was made with love they meant it. Flawless execution, quirky art style that lets your imagination do the rest, and a simple game mechanic make this a refreshing break from the norm out there. The presentation is also so clean.

Do not listen to those who say it is too hard and random. I won my first time through on easy. The randomness is the whole reason there is replay ability. Now I’m on the custom setup for my first time through.

I have been looking for something like this for awhile now. I love hybrid-style RPGs where you are not having to make 15 small decisions for one larger decision. It’s nice to be able to not break the flow and keep the “suspension of disbelief” going.

  • Really enjoying, but some cards seem broken

The core gameplay is awesome. This is a really fun rouge-like with great replayability and exciting tension.

I’m hoping the dev will see this review, because I’ve been unable to reach out for support, but some cards seem broken. My special survivor types (I.e singer, picker, etc.) all show the “fatigue” symbol as the activation cost. I didn’t really understand how this would work, but when I look at gameplay videos online of the pc version, they have activation costs (like food or wood) that make sense. Not sure if this is a bug, or maybe something I haven’t unlocked, but it’s blocking a lot of gameplay for me.

Those issues aside, the game is great fun and recommended.

  • Well designed but..

Kinda boring. A lot of effort clearly went in to it but the core gameplay was pretty tedious to me. But the art and presentation is very well done.
  • Great game hindered by less than stellar mobile

The card game itself is great. However there are a number of issues I suspect are at least somewhat mobile specific. It is incredibly finicky to zoom in on a card without playing it, triggering secondary behaviors is not always perfect, and it’s hard to tell what some cards do because there’s no explanatory text.

My biggest complaint might be that there is no cloud backup of your progress, so if you delete the app you’ve lost everything if you reinstall.
