Cool app. Love being able to track all my surfs
Inaccurate readings, virtually useless data
Pros: The user interface is easy to follow and really aesthetically pleasing! I like that I can enter in the spots I surf at and the boards I use that session.
Cons: I’ve used this app for several weeks to track my sessions and I use an Apple Watch. It’s highly inaccurate with most of the data it can track (location, speed, time on wave, etc.) it’ll map that I rode waves onto the beach, past the parking lot, and past highways for example. Also, today on a day with 1-3 ft waves that were not very powerful, it recorded me riding a wave for over 1 minute at 20 mph.. I wish I had that ability but my skills are also nowhere near that level yet. Also, my sessions do not sync to the app on my phone immediately and I typically will have to go into the app on my watch to sync sessions individually.

Has potential, but...
Some features on Dawn Patrol have so much potential but I find the interaction with Strava clunky at best, if it even manages to sync, and the app often stops for no reason. This has been in very cold water, and could be an Ultra issue, but I doubt it.
For the price I'd like seamless integration and a more swept up interface that works 100% of the time.

Great when it works
I love having the swell and ride on my watch face so I always know what the ocean is doing. Unfortunately much of the time the data does not load, so I just have an empty tide chart. This is pretty disappointing given how expensive the app is.
Doesn’t work asked for a refund no response
Tried on multiple occasions and didn’t work.
Asked for a refund and got a automatic reply which had nothing to do with what I asked.

I have found the foil tracking has got a lot worse in recent months. The recording resolution is too low and waves are appearing as straight lines instead of showing any cut backs etc, double ups etc are often missed.
3 years on 2 Apple Watches still not accurate.

Have emailed support since upgrading to the Apple Watch Ultra. Upgraded because the old Apple watch would die during a long surf or during a second surf. Just had battery.
Apple Watch Ultra lasts all day. Multiple surfs. I hoped it would be more accurate with better gps. But it was worse. Tracks like 40 waves when I’ve actually caught like 15. Can easily work out which ones are suss. But not the point, accuracy needs to be no1 priority.
Let me know when there is a fix. Already done each update as requested by support. Still does the same annoying thing.

Not Worth it.
I have been using the app on both an Apple Watch 8 and an Ultra 2 and found that consistently the app fails to record at least 50 percent of waves, has anomalies like recording waves some distance from where I was actually surfing and just plain bizarre readings like 45kmph speeds - understandable at Jaws or Snapper but not Ocean Grove or 13th Beach. Tried multiple settings, install/uninstall and even resetting my watch and it is still woeful. As soon as something else even half usable comes along this app is going in the bin.

No support and app doesn’t work anymore!
I’ve tried and tried to get support and no answer. It was a great app a few months ago but now it doesn’t work and I still have half my subscription remaining. You guys need to sort it out or give us our money back!
