Fills in the gaps

Duolingo was not explaining the rules well or giving me the kind of practice I need to memorize grammar patterns. I was looking for a second, more grammar-focused app to supplement it, and all the conversational-practice ones people rave about were not hitting that for me. This is exactly what I needed. Subtracting a star mostly for some presentation issues, including the way it divides problem-batches, which doesn't make sense and will make memorization harder. (200+? Seriously?) Overall, though, was very relieved to find this and expect to keep it past the trial week. Maybe someday, conversation-apps...

Hello Potionpen, thanks for your message! It's great that our app helps you learn German! Even though there are 200 + exercises in one Pack, you can see your progress after 5,12 or 20 examples, depending on the exercise type. Thank you for your constructive feedback! Your suggestion has been forwarded to the responsible department. We are constantly working to improve the app for our users. We hope you continue to enjoy learning German! Your Grammatisch team!

Great but keeps crashing

The program is great and it is really helpful for learning german. However, the program keeps crashing. Every time I want to use it I have to redownload it. Thankfully the app saves my progress each time but I can only even use 30 minutes at a time. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

Wonderful resource for learning German

This application is an amazing resource for anyone trying to master the German language. I use it in conjunction with a grammar book. It helps me practice what I learned and solidify my knowledge of was material.

Hello Nain Jaune, thank you for your feedback! We are very happy that you like our app. The entire Grammatisch team wishes you every success in learning German!

Cash grab

Any app that attempts to take $64 immediately after opening is a scam. A “free trial” that charges $64 after a week is inexcusable

Hi James ,to use the extensive free content of the Grammatisch App, just click on the little x on the left. Or if you want to remove ads, simply activate Grammatisch Plus, free for one week. We need to offer Grammatisch Plus to invest in new exercises, features, etc. Thank you for understanding.

Great Ap!

Fantastisch!

Hallo DRDooodle, Danke für dein positives Feedback! Wir freuen uns sehr dass dir die Lernmethode unserer App gefällt. Weiterhin viel Spaß und viel Erfolg wünscht dir dein Grammatisch-Team!

Just drills

No lessons, no explanations or help. You just answer and will tell you t the end what the right answer was. Pretty useless, I have books that do better job of teaching. WAY overpriced. I’d like a refund please.

Hi gauge14iv, Every grammar topic has lessons and explanations, just tap the big "learn it" button above the exercises to see them. If you still need further assistance, please contact us through support@grammatisch.com.

Good for practice grammar on the go

Good app for practicing German grammar.

I have a first class honours undergraduate degree in German but still like to brush up every so often, so thought I would give this app a try.

Pros: I found it easy to use and each section includes a reference guide. I also like how the sections are laid out by language level and the fact that most of the content is paywall free (but you will sometimes watch adds to view your test results). The app also works well on a phone or iPad and it is much easier to fit a bit of grammar work around your life. The explanations are also quite accessible and simple (in comparison to most grammar books which assume a good working knowledge of English grammar and grammatical terms), I wish this app had existed when I started learning German ten years ago!

Cons: The reference guides don’t cover everything so you might still need to get out a grammar book if you want to do a deep dive on a topic (Hammer’s German Grammar & Usage is the best IMO). You also don’t get access to everything for free but that is to be expected as the developers have to make a living somehow. That being said, I think the packages should be more affordable. £61.99 for a year vs £40 for the Hammer’s grammar set, for example.

Suggestions for improvements:
- It would be nice if there was an option to hear the audio of what you have typed e.g. a sound button I could press for verb conjugation so I can hear that I have typed “ich darf”. Audio is also important for learning languages and sometimes you will pick up an error because it sounds wrong.
- It would also be nice to see more complex concepts covered e.g. valency, Konjunktiv I, Word Order, compound nouns etc.
- It would be great if there were an interactive lesson that taught you / reminded you of the concept (e.g. short animation and guided questions) before you go straight to tests.

Well,

I think it is really good but everything is in German, It is quite tricky to understand the rules.

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback. The app is available in English, Portuguese, German and we are working un more languages. You just need to change the language of your phone! Have fun

Not a free app

I was looking forward to using this app, but they only give you a 7 day free trial (you have to input your credit card information first). I wished that they would at least offer some free lessons with ads, than to have users pay for a subscriptions to even be able to use it.

Response from developer

Hi Fanee066, 90% of the content is available for free, all you need to do is skip the purchase screen and start using the app. Viel Spaß beim Deutschlernen! Grammatisch Team

Charged despite cancelling

I cancelled when my free trial was up yet they still charged me 70 bucks.

Response from developer

Dear TawnyKira, This is a false claim. The app does not charge people who cancel their free trials. Apple handles the payments itself so that's not even technically possible. Contact Apple Support directly if you believe there was a mistake.
