Great App and System, but....

I would have gave it 5 stars but I hate the color choice of lettering and numbering on the screen when tracking a dog. Very hard to see the dogs name and distance with that color combo for the letters and numbers. Would be 💯 better if the numbers and letters were just solid white. I hope to see this change in the near future. That’s really the only complaint I have with it. Overall very pleased. I will never go back to a Garmin.

Thank you for your feedback and we are trying to improve the visual apperance of the dogs. Hopefully we will have an update in the future that gives you additional options.

A lot of money for some big problems

I have to sync my phone and collars to each other every few days. Why don’t they stay synced?
Also, it does not tone my dog when he goes near/ out of the geo fence. Yes, I get an alert on my phone, but I’m not always by my phone. So then I have to go running to a different room to tone him.

Simple and easy, but some flaws.

This collar and app system is a great idea, but it is lacking a little bit in functionality. As an avid hunter, and dog trainer, having to always use a touchscreen is not ideal. A physical button to give dogs corrections(like the volume rocker) would make this so much better. Trying to pull your phone out, pull your gloves off, and press a touchscreen button when it is -20 degrees outside is not easy. Other than that, it is a great unit

Pretty good app and hardware

This app and the hardware are very helpful with my dogs. The app itself could use work, the screen blanks out and goes black occasionally. Some features such as the pairing command could be easier to access. Also the latest update moved the map button on the ecollar screen, that’s one of my pet peeves, just when you have the controls under your thumbs, someone changes the app.
There is still an indeterminate delay when pairing collars, it can last from a few seconds to fifteen or more minutes for the collars to come “online” this is interesting and I’d bet if you had 20 collars it could get time consuming and frustrating.
A collar tone when geo fence is breached would be a most outstanding option.
Overall I would recommend the app and the hardware, they are solid, however I feel refinements could be made and this system would be fantastic.

Thank you for the great feedback and we are always looking for ways to improve the application. As far as the pairing, please make sure that you are outside, since inside pairing can affect the connection. If you continue to have these problems, please give our customer service team a call at 888-811-9111 and they can do some trouble shooting with you or provide additional details to the pairing process

Dogtra Pathfinder App snd Collar

The app is OK once you figure it out—mostly on your own. First weakness is in learning how to pair the dog collar with the phone. Manual says to “set GPS to pairing mode and click search in the app.” However there is no “search” in the app. Also weak on telling user how to separate the beep stimulus from the shock stimulus. Otherwise the collar is first rate, high quality, well-made.

Great app few suggestions

Use this app/ collar on my shorthair for upland. I was torn between this or the Alpha system from Garmin.

With these features added/ fixes it would be a superior alternative to Garmin.
1. Alert when dog is on point is 50/50 for working I’ve noticed for when the app is closed.
2. HARD BUTTON FOR STIM OR TONE IS A MUST.
3. Ability to completely cut off tracks.
4. Off line map uploads similar to AVENZA pdf style maps.

I chose this over Garmin for price.
If these features would be added it would be a no brainer.

Great system

I love this system. It's very easy to use and I like the variety of the maps available and some of the other features offered.

I had no problems with the app while using my old Samsung Galaxy, however after switching to the Iphone X, the system will occasionally make the screen go black and the screen won't come back on for approximately 1-2 minutes.

Like a previous reviewer stated, it'd be nice to be able to program the volume up /down buttons as tone/stimulate buttons. Would save time and increase convenience if correction is necessary.

Thank you for your feedback and we truly appreciate hearing positive remarks about the our product lines . As we continue to enhance the application, we will see if this feature is a viable option, but not sure if and when we can incorporate.

Love it...but have a suggestion!

I really like this collar system. I have 4 of them for my hunting beagles. We hunt public land frequently...

Would it be possible to put “layers” on your app, similar to “on X hunt” app? This way you could have the public and private land boundaries show on your app while running dogs without having to rely on “your guess” of setting up a geo-fence, or bouncing back and forth between apps?

Thanks for all your hard work. I look forward to what developments you have in store!

Response from developer

Thank you for your suggestion and as new technology is created, we will look to incorporate these into our application. Our team has been looking at the some of the features of the X-Hunt map and hopefully these can be added in future updates.

Love my pathfinder

I love my collar . It works great . I too would like an option for the collar to set off the tone on the collar automatically when my dog goes out of the boundary . I would definitely give it 5 stars with that.

Any chance of us being able setup the collar to tone or to shock when the animal goes outside the fence??

Also the collar is taking around 5 mins to sync up with the remote

Great product

Quality of maps is outstanding. Only suggestion I would give is a way to tone/shock while the map is pulled up instead of scrolling back to the e-collar page. If that was possible it would be the best gps tracking system on the market hands down.
