OVERPRICED, UNRELIABLE, insulting text. AWFUL
I NEVER write reviews but I have to share my experience. I paid my monthly subscription along with around £30 extra top up each month on average. Value fid money is not important to this company. I cancelled my accpunt subscription and payment only to get charged the following month. I complained to my bank, got refunded only to receive a text message from prison voicemail to tell me what a disappointment I was as a customer because I clawed MY OWN money back which meant they had to pay a £25 charge for their "mistake". I have never received an insult from a company for fixing their own mistake. These people are all about the money. The system they use does not save us money. My brother in law and my husband are both away and my family and I spent waaaaaay over the odds using this app. Virtual Landline is better value.

Hi Lottie, I checked your account and you were only spending £10 a month so I'm not sure why you are saying you paid an extra £30 a month on average. Perhaps you are confusing us with another service? During the 3 months you used our service you had 344 minutes of Live Calls which would have saved the prisoner £34 of their phone credit. Over that period you only spent £30 with us, so there was a net saving for the two of you. Regarding the cancellation, you cancelled the day after a payment had been taken but it probably didn't show up in your bank statement for a couple of days so I can see why you thought we had charged you after you cancelled. This is not the case. We would happily have refunded that payment for you with zero fuss had you contacted us, but by going straight to your bank we incurred a £25 fee, which is a pointless waste of money for a social venture such as ours. We are a tiny organisation with a social mission to assist the families of people in prison and pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service (please read the other reviews or check out our website testimonials for proof). ~ Kieran, Co-founder
Amazing service
Kieran and the team have provided me with an amazing experience using the voicemail service. My partner and I are able to leave good morning and good night messages everyday at a much cheaper rate than him calling. I cannot express enough how it has helped us through this dark spell and I can not recommend it enough! It’s been amazing! And al the voicemails are saved on the app so to be able to listen back over them when I’m down and when he comes home is amazing! Thank you ever so much! 5/5

Saved our relationship
I never leave reviews but this particular service has acted like a beam of sunshine during an horrifically dark time. My partner is serving a short sentence and our phone conversations were costing him most of his weekly allowance. I set up this service with the hope of easing that burden.
As soon as I signed up I received a confirmation email and the next day I received a text confirming the details had been sent to the prison - and what I liked even more was that I got another text when the prison approved my number! The worst part of having a loved one in prison is the ‘not knowing’, so I really did appreciate the extra update from Prison Voicemail on the progress and the personalisation of all correspondence too. It makes it feel more human for someone to refer to my partner by name, rather than calling him a ‘prisoner’.
A feature of the app that I particularly love is having the option to listen back to our live conversations. It really helps when I’m missing him the most and is a big comfort to hear his voice. I would encourage everyone with loved ones inside to sign up. It gives you that little bit of extra hope, which is often needed whilst going through such a difficult time.

Thank god for prison voicemail.
This has been an absolute godsend in the OST difficult time of our lives. Being able to leave messages when you miss them. Letting the children sing Happy Birthday down the phone making the day easier for your loved one. I also found being able to listen back to calls comforting as did the children.
The negative (if I can call it that) -1- Call costs are reasonable but always room for improvement as prisoners funds are always low.
-2- Sometimes the line connection wouldn’t be very good and my husband would waste credit trying to get back through.
Hopefully I’ll never have to use this app again but for anyone who’s going through this then don’t think twice about using this as your main phone account. :-)

Excellent App, Excellent customer service
This app was such a god send! The amount of money I saved was unbelievable. Especially where hardly anyone has landlines nowadays. This app was additionally handy as you are able to speak to your loved one whilst your at work, out n about, wherever!!!

What an excellent service
I work full time and have no work landline and am often not st home. So Prison Voicemail is a godsend enabling my husband and I to keep in daily contact without paying the extortionate rates the prison service charges for calling mobiles. Also it is wonderful to be able to leave voicemails if I am unavailable at the time we have agreed to phone. Thank you Prison Voicemail. Good to know someone is one our side

This is a fantastic service. The app is straightforward and easy to use and to access the necessary information. The facility to actually speak live to a loved one when they access the system is such a tremendous option.

Amazing!!
I just want to say if it wasn’t for this app I’m not sure I’d be coping well at all. The best thing about it is being able to listen back to our conversations every night before I go to sleep, just hearing his voice and laugh sends me to sleep with a smile on my face instead of tears rolling down my face as they was before I had this amazing app. Just wanted to say thank you so much 🙂

Brilliant app
I used this app for the 4 months my husband was in prison. It was brilliant and has multiple uses. The fact it saves you money on live calls is brilliant but I especially liked the voicemails you can use. My husband left me a voicemail on the app for our son and i played it every night to him. Really helped us. Customer service is brilliant for this to, they will recommend tariffs etc based on your useage, always a quick response to. Defiantly recommend :)

What an absolute fantastic job you all do there, you brighten up the lives of so many people, I’ve never been in this situation so I didn’t have a clue but wow what a difference you made, I spoke to my daughter a couple of times every day and she spoke to her little girl which was amazing.
I will of course recommend you to others if they ever find there selfs in the same situation.
