  • Not free. Not really.

Coggle states that it will be “free forever” but free accounts are limited to three private drawings; all others will be public. For more features you have to pay a monthly or annual subscription fee.

They need to add in-app purchases to this app. Deleting.
  • Reasonable learning curve

So far I’m just using the free version, but I am seriously thinking about going for the five dollar version. Somethings are more intuitive than others. But I would really like to see is the ability to export my flow chart in a way that I could use it as a presentation unfolding each of the ideas sequentially. Of course, I have no idea how that can be accomplished but I wonder if the developer can give it some thought?

  • Way too effing expensive!

Of all the mind mapping apps I’ve played with, this one feels great, is intuitive, and has all the features you could want.

    BUT!

It’s going to cost you and cost you big time!

All the features that makes this app worth buying are only on a subscription plan for either $5/mo for personal or $8/mo for the pro.

That’s a minimum of $60 a year and they’re still holding back features! That’s just obscenely expensive for measly note taking software.

  • Dishonest: actually freemium

This app actually has in-app purchases. They get around having to show that on the App Store because they link to their website to pay for the premium service.
  • Runs smoothly with some Interface issues

Great for getting your ideas out, this app responds quickly and has color and design options for your text and map - far more if you choose to pay, but the free version has a decent amount. There's a collaboration option but I haven't tried that yet.

One frustration is that it's difficult to move around on the map - one misplaced finger and you're accidentally moving one of the nodes around instead. The app should require some sort of hold-down option to move the nodes.

  • Neat idea needs some improvement

On the computer this works pretty well. The app has a lot of things missing. For example it doesn't explain in any way how to use it, which isn't intuitive. There's also no way to go back the list of diagrams from editing a diagram. Very strange.

Edit: Developer responded clarifying how to go back to the diagram menu. I tend to use my iPad in one orientation or the other. Perhaps I'm different than others but I'm not rotating my iPad like I do with my phone.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback - the app is very new so we're still working to add the features and tutorials available in the web version. To go back to the diagram list from the diagram editing view just turn your device to portrait mode and tap the back arrow in the navigation bar (we remove clutter from the screen in portrait mode to provide a distraction free mode). Hope that helps!
  • Good app, needs some refining (could be great)

This has the potential to be great mind mapping app, but it needs to be optimized for an app experience. Moving the branches, choosing a new branch, labeling, among others, is difficult to do within the app. The toolbar that was added in the latest update autohides, but doesn't reappear all the time. Changing the UI in the app would be really helpful. The Apple Pencil isn't as responsive as it is in other apps. There is no documentation defining the symbols.
