  • Really fun for etymology nerds like me

I have used the Online Etymology Dictionary for years, but this app expands on its features to do etymology searches and cognate searches every which way. It also lets you do searches in languages such as French and German (as well as Latin), which the Online Etymology Dictionary doesn’t help with as much. It does cross-language cognate searches, too, which you can’t really do in Wiktionary. I particularly like the Random tool: lately I’ve taken to looking up random words as my favorite little iPhone game, instead of other games I had been fiddling with. Thank you so much for making this available! Keep up the good work!

  • Great info, would be amazing with flashcards

This is an awesome app! It really covers all the etymology and has so much excellent detail. As it is though, it’s essentially an encyclopedia. It would really be amazing if it had a flashcard feature for learning. If there were flashcards for affixes and roots in each descending category (eg. latin, greek, french) it would really boost the utility of this app. A learning tool like that would take this from a database of information into a usable education app.

  • Incredibly useful tool

This app is phenomenal. I think so much can be learned regarding the truth when it comes to the laws and many other things in life by studying the etymology of words because it allows you to learn their true meanings.

This app is by far the best tool I’ve found to do that so far, and EVERYONE should have it on their phone so that they can quickly look up words on the spot wherever they go.
