  • Really fun for etymology nerds like me

I have used the Online Etymology Dictionary for years, but this app expands on its features to do etymology searches and cognate searches every which way. It also lets you do searches in languages such as French and German (as well as Latin), which the Online Etymology Dictionary doesn’t help with as much. It does cross-language cognate searches, too, which you can’t really do in Wiktionary. I particularly like the Random tool: lately I’ve taken to looking up random words as my favorite little iPhone game, instead of other games I had been fiddling with. Thank you so much for making this available! Keep up the good work!

  • Great info, would be amazing with flashcards

This is an awesome app! It really covers all the etymology and has so much excellent detail. As it is though, it’s essentially an encyclopedia. It would really be amazing if it had a flashcard feature for learning. If there were flashcards for affixes and roots in each descending category (eg. latin, greek, french) it would really boost the utility of this app. A learning tool like that would take this from a database of information into a usable education app.

  • Incredibly useful tool

This app is phenomenal. I think so much can be learned regarding the truth when it comes to the laws and many other things in life by studying the etymology of words because it allows you to learn their true meanings.

This app is by far the best tool I’ve found to do that so far, and EVERYONE should have it on their phone so that they can quickly look up words on the spot wherever they go.

  • A Blessing AND a Joy for my Neurodivergent Journey

Up until about 2 years ago, I had no idea I was on the autism spectrum. I have always loved learning new words and discovering their lore! My mind is not as sharp as it used to be and this app has truly helped my communication skills improve by helping me find the right words to express with confidence! If you’ve lived a life struggling to confidently express yourself, you understand how great that feels. Thank you for creating this resource and for being a part of my journey🤗

  • Thank You!

Finally the app I've been waiting for my whole life. If you love words and want to know where they come from, this is so good
  • Best Investment Ever

Everyone on the planet is responsible for the way they communicate. Without a love for words, it’s impossible to move your communication out of a certain perspective. In the business world especially, perception is the difference that makes the most money. This is an invaluable tool to elevate one’s success, no matter what the industry.
