  • Great Idea

The app is really simple and really informative. The timer and alerts at minute intervals is great. I like that at the turn of the wrist I can get 4 stats.

A few issues: the app began crashing every time i would try to navigate so i had to reinstall. It was inconvenient because i had to enter all of the marks from the lake again. The other was after I reinstalled i entered in the 20 or so marks and when i reopened the app, about 1/3 of the marks were not there.

After the first issue i reached out to the developer who responded after some email issues. Very helpful the app just has a few kinks.

  • Best ever

Adding, naming, and editing waypoints and routes is intuitively efficient.

Makes any other app seem clumsy.

Best method of learning how to properly use the app is to just start tapping, tapping and holding, and generally exploring what the app will do. You will need to engage your brain when something doesn’t appear to work. Ex: vmg requires a destination.

You can change a waypoint in the middle of a route in 10 seconds. Really.

    Impressive.

Wish list: share a route and waypoints with fellow YoNav! sailors, full-screen version for iPad.

  • Apple Watch bug

I want to love this app because it meets all my needs in paper but I bought it for my watch and it’s unusable. Every time I set a waypoint the watch displays info but when I turn my wrist to view it a second time the app crashes and the app either gets really buggy and I have to force quit it. I have to set the waypoint again and have the same bug occur again. Help!

    Developer Response

Sailguy, we will get you working. Can you send me an email at support@yonav.net so we can troubleshoot? We’ve got several thousand current users, I’m sure we can make you one of them. Thanks, Shannon
  • Fantastic on phone and watch

This app is perfect for my boating and walking adventures, capable and simple to use.

The watch app works completely independently of the phone, letting me venture out on the boat with no phone.

Save and name your waypoints and routes and enjoy a flexible choice of tracking and nav options.

Phone display of tracks and waypoints simple and effective.

Initiating the gps can be unreliable but developer is aware and working on it. Easy workaround is to initiate with another app.

  • Great update

The update addresses a few issues and is great. “Waiting forGPS signal” etc. Ltd is a very useful App. Thank you Shannon

    Developer Response

RussJW, Please make sure you have a clear view of the sky (not indoors or under tree cover). After pressing “Go”, It could take several minutes for the GPS signal to acquire the first time. Please also make sure location services is activated for this app. If you are still having trouble please email me at sgalway@yonav.net.
  • I wish

I wish this would work but I just can’t get it to. The race start countdown timer is great. After that it just doesn’t collect or save any data. Shame, it sounded so good.

Petone Boy, Please make sure you have a clear view of the sky (not indoors or under heavy tree cover). Please also make sure you have location services activated for this app. It could take several minutes to acquire a GPS signal the first time. If you’re still having issues, please email at sgalway@yonav.net. We will get you running.
  • Finally, a smart GPS app that is convenient

I race catamarans and many times I go out in extreme conditions to see how fast I can go. I have tried many different speed recording systems. I have used a Velocitek version SC-1 for a speed readout and track top speeds. The problem there is the water spray would change the buttons for the display. The button lock never worked. I was in process of building a shield, when I was forced to do an update that fried the unit. Lately, I have been using RaceQs for speed tracking. The downfall is I would have to pull the phone out to check what we’re doing (phone lives in lifejacket). This becomes a challenge at 20 knots. Using YoNav on the Apple Watch makes speed and navigation a dream. I have also used iNavX for navigation. iNavX uses USCG charts which is helpful for marine navigation. It is a whole different point of use than YoNav. The displays on YoNav are much better than anything I have seen.

I have used the app in the car to test it. As with any GPS, it must “see the sky” to work. I was able to play with the app on the water this weekend and it worked great. You don’t have to have the app running on the phone for the watch to work. I really look forward to doing some races with this app. I really like that I can change the number of screens and which data is delivered on the watch. Pure brilliance!!! I’m very impressed.

  • Tromper d application

Peu t on etre rembourser pour une app qu on a pas besoin je l ai supprimer et j ai payer pareil
  • NoNav! not YoNav!

Great idea pity it does not work. Successfully entered waypoints which were recognised by the system but no navigation data in any field on either iPhone or Apple Watch. Live map showed waypoints but in wrong position (3 miles out!). The functionality on the Apple Watch is brilliant IF IT WORKED.
  • Not Working

Since downloading this app, it has never fired up. No location LAT/LONG and no maps. I have authorized the app in settings to use location services. What am I missing?

    Developer Response

Please make sure you have a clear view of the sky and location services is turned on. Open the app and press the "GO" button to select your type of tracking. Once a tracking mode is selected it will take a moment or two for the GPS to sync up, but you should see data begin to stream.
