Description of Welcome to Moreytown

Claw your way to the top of Moreytown, a furry slum for human/animal hybrids. Will you take down the gangs who rule the town, or take them over instead? "Welcome to Moreytown" is a 150,000-word interactive novel by S. Andrew Swann. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. You’re a moreau: a genetically engineered human/animal hybrid, a remnant of mankind’s last war. Surviving life in a Moreytown hasn't been easy, but now, someone is out to kill moreys—unexplained fires, explosions, and the gangs swirling around the neighborhood spell big trouble for you and your fellow "moreys." It's up to you to save your pelt, and maybe take over town. Play as one of thirteen different species, including tiger, capybara, bear, or wolf. Infiltrate a sinister cult, or ally yourself with a gang of moreys. Choose a side and let the fur fly! • Play as male, female, or non-binary, gay, straight, bi, or ace • Fight the police or help them to bring down a terrifying enemy • Save your neighborhood from utter destruction • Take over a street gang, or even run your own cult • Explore multiple potential romantic relationships

  • Amazing

This game, well was extremely fun to play. I’m a fan of text based games and this is one of the top ones I’ve ever played, I hope you make more text based games like this-
  • Yes.

I have a lot of great thoughts but have no idea how to say them, so, here goes with what I’m able to say.

Let’s get the, like, one or two negative things out of the way. It’s to short! It’s the best thing ever aside from being too short! There could also be a slightly more alterable story, which I think would best come with a longer story.

Let me put something else into perspective. You are doing all of this stuff, in, oh, about one in-game week. That’s the entire span of time for the main story. I feel like there could be much more. There is potential!

Now on to some of the best points: I love the characters. From David to Detective Toomy, I’m kind of sad it’s over quite quickly. The characters developed really well, and the option to... er... flirt with some of them is quite interesting. Although the story as a whole isn’t too impacted by your choices, all of the finer and more sensitive details are. Including your stats, which, for the first time in nearly any text-based story, actually mean something.

Like I said, it’s sad it’s over quite quickly, but for what it’s worth, it’s like a good book, better even, since you can impact those finer details. Which thus allows for many “rereads” that are each different.

Of course, all good things come to an end, and so must the story of Moreytown. I could really go on and on, but I think I’ve gone on way longer than I should. For one final, sum-up opinion: it is currently and probably will forever be the best thing I’ve ever done. Even with its flaws and rather short storyline. To me, way worth $3.99. 10/10 would recommend, and 13/10 would play an extended version.

  • Played twice, got some interesting results.

It’s surprising just how gritty and grimey this story can get. The player gets involved in some very mature and perhaps shocking themes and your actions dictate whether you’re a nice person caught up in a whirlwind or a firestarter making things worse from the center. I played nicey-nice and bad boy once each and I have a feeling there are as many good and bad results for both. This is my third Choice game and I’m really enjoying what this dev and their writers are putting out.
