Seems to be glitching

It’s seems like when I write a note or a thought, the app would just crash and I have to reopen it and same thing would happen. It doesn’t seem to work right.

Does not recognize books

Stays on a constant state “Recognizing”. Buggy

Really very good app for students/academics

I almost never write a review, but I will for this app. It is really very good - the creator knows pretty much what researchers need, so you can add book details, page numbers etc to scanned text and then export. It works very well - OCR is fast and accurate. Export is good, although to plain text as well as HTML would be helpful. Don't know why nobody ever implemented something like this before. It's perfect for academics. Too many of these scan/OCR apps concentrate on thigs that academics do not want - like scanning receipts and documents - this is very much oriented towards what scholars want and need. A cpl of very minor niggles, which is why only four stars. Also I reckon this is going to get even better before long, so then I will be able to give it five stars. Addition: work needs to be done on sync. No need for books to be on a server in China when they could be on Dropbox or iCloud. If you switch to Apple log-in, no way to import books and notes, apparently, from the China server log-in.

Thank you!

Default language is chinese

Just installed the app and the default language is chinese. Would be happy to test and review if I could switch to english.

Mostly quite pleased

I really like how easy this app makes getting research notes out of books. Scanning bar codes and OCR has been pretty smooth, even with relatively obscure reference books. Got the yearly membership for that reason. Would very much like to see the ability to do an author search (as someone else mentioned) and search for multiple tags at once—right now I can’t search for notes that are tagged both “trust” and “promise,” for example, which means a lot of scrolling. Would love to see this continue to be developed- might even recommend it to students once it has enough going for it!

Edit: Author search works well now! Still want the ability to search my notes from the app, though I can export them for search elsewhere, so it shouldn’t be a dealbreaker. Very nice functionality! Very glad I have this!

Response from developer

Thanks very much for your feedback! I will keep developing this App! The latest version of Shelfie can search books by author, please try it. We will take account of searching for multiple tags. Thanks again for your comments. If you have anything to say, please contact me by: hustlzp@qq.com

The book app I’ve been looking for

I tried so many different book apps before shelfie, and so far this is the best one. I wanted something simple and elegant, a place where I can record my notes and thoughts without distraction. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you, developers.

Good app but not sure how it works

Worthy app if it does what it claims, unfortunately I can’t figure that out. After reading some articles online I went out and got this app because I thought you could get ebooks here. So far all I’ve been able to do is scan barcodes so I can take notes on the physical books I do have. While that’s useful I can do a modified version of the same thing virtually anywhere I make notes. What interests me is finding digital copies of books I own. So far no tutorials on the app and the website listed below is in Chinese. So, looks like I may have to keep searching for a comparable app. Disappointed.

So cool!

This is amazing!

Won’t process barcode scan

I have scanned the barcode of one of my books and let it sit for over an hour and nothing has happened.
