A Little Different
Cheesy guitar music? Check! Avatars that look like marionettes? Check! Elements from FF1, FF4, and Chrono Trigger? Check! A god named Bastardo? Check . . . But I mean, that one’s a bit much. This one is fun. While it’s an improvement on FFD1, what it loses is much resemblance to typical FF game play. The gâcha feel to this game gets redundant at times, with all action scrolling from right to left. The first part is still a lot of fun, while the second part tacked on at the end is mostly visual novel and very little video game.

Wait for the ending
A very loooonngggg and drawn out game, you fell like you’ve completed it 100 times but then it’s somthing else… but the ending, if you can push through, is brilliant. Good RPG :)
Fun but held back by its gacha past
This game is enjoyable enough for what it is, and despite the gacha origins there's little grinding to be found, but sadly it just isn't very substantial.
The story is haphazardly thrown together with you often being sent to random spots for no other reason than they were the last places mentioned in a conversation. The gameplay is pretty simple and will be very unlikely to present a challenge until several hours in.
My biggest gripe with the game is probably the art style, which more resembles some generic cookie cutter jrpg gacha than any classic Square series. I'm not even opposed to different art styles, it's just that this one is so overplayed in mobile games that it's hard to ignore.

Bad sequel.
This has nothing to do with it first game. I mean the first dimensions was literallly one of the best FF since tactics, in my opinion.

Disappointed
I cannot express how much of a disappointment this game is. I have been playing FF games since FF3 on snes. I was excited about the new dimensions after the first one completely took me by surprise and I loved that game. This game should be free. It plays like one of these free “pay to play” games. No strategy, story is.... not good. SE, you guys are the heavy hitters on the block. FFT is possibly the best game, maybe 7? But it is all about FF series. This one needs an enormous “update” called a redo or remodel. Enjoy my 15 bucks guys, you got me on this one.

Not as bad as many are claiming
This game is not bad but it does play very differently than the first in the series. While the prequel focuses on a blend of exploration, story, and combat equally, this game focuses heavily on combat. If you like battles and powering up characters more than anything, then this is for you. I personally like this as I never delve much into lore and prefer more action. You will mostly either be on a world map selecting a destination, in a cutscene or in combat that is arranged in waves of fights.

Some shortcomings
1. No full screen support for the X series/iPhone 11 series. Par for the course as far as Square Enix games go on iOS and Android. Cannot reliably expect updates.
2. Touch responsiveness needs to be fixed. At times touches just do not register.
3. This is a personal complaint, but I wish it were closer to the first Dimensions game. This is basically just battles with a wave enemies approach. No true exploration in the vein of the classic FF games. Story is a bit lackluster and the fact that you cannot explore makes it a bit boring.
It’s fun to pick up from time to time, but it’s not something I can play for hours unfortunately.

Initially disappointed, but grew to love it
Now when I heard that a new FF Dimensions game was being released, I was excited because I played the first one and absolutely enjoyed it. After downloading this game and playing it for about 3 hours, I uninstalled it. I was disappointed. Now about a year later, I decided to revisit it with a open mindset. I can absolutely say I love this game. The story starts off realllllly slow but about midway it gets really good. It does a good job intertwining the timelines & introducing characters in a satisfying way. The gameplay is awesome, just playing the first tutorial battle seeing the powerful abilities you could obtain & eventually knowing you’ll be that powerful & even stronger is a great motivation to continue to play. You can even grind out your levels in particular towers to earn currency to buy new abilities and outfits. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a good game. Take your time and try it out before you cast it off.

Riddled with bugs, unplayable on iPhone XS Max
DO NOT PURCHASE
First off, the buttons don’t respond to taps. I’m not sure if it’s a compatibility thing or some kind of obvious bug they failed to pick up, I can tap to speed up the talking, but in combat and on the world map my tap doesn’t work on anything. I have to spam tap multiple times for the game to register.
Second, even when it is playable, the game plays like Brave Exvius, which is sqex’s freemium game. Final Fantasy Dimensions 2 is supposed to be a classic JRPG experience, that allows the players to explore the maps and travel to towns and fight monster encounters along the way, and they made it out to play like a mobile freemium money sucking garbage! Truly shameful!
Bottom line: not worth the money, I wish I didn’t buy it.
