  • Fun and beautifull

Love to play with words? Love poetry and classic literature? This for you my friend.
  • Addicting and educational

I have never enjoyed poetry as much as I do with this app! Although I completed all the content in one day….I need more!!! Especially Shakespeare!!!

Hi. Thanks for the great review. So glad you love the game. Out of curiosity, did you earn all the achievements in one day? If so, what a day that must have been! Some of those achievements are extremely challenging.
  • Thoroughly delightful

Any literature nerd will be positively giddy about this little game! The visual style is lovely and sets the mood perfectly. It’s a game that simultaneously celebrates fine works of literature while not taking itself too seriously. In fact, the player can decide exactly how serious they want to be! Recommend 100%

Thank-you so much for this wonderful review! It's always a pleasure to meet a fellow literature nerd. We do what we can to bring great poetry, memorable prose and laughter into the lives of others, don't we? Warm regards, The WordWhile Editorial Team, aka Greg
  • Love this, would pay for extra content!

What a little gem! The illustrations are fantastic, and the content is great. Relaxing /challenging modes, and a fun gameplay scheme.

I’d buy extra content packs in a heartbeat. Great job.

Your review made my day, Sam. Yours is the first to mention the game aesthetics (illustrations). Considerable effort went into the look and feel of WordWhile, so it pleases me when players notice these touches. Your eagerness for more content is duly noted. • Wish there were more . . .

I adored this game; I only wish there were more quotations or in app purchases.

Thank-you so much for your enthusiastic review. Out of curiosity, how many of the Achievements did you earn? Some are very challenging!

Heartfelt thanks from The WordWhile Editorial Team, a.k.a. me!
  • Enjoy this entertaining and educational escapade!!!

Really enjoyed this - whether trying to get all the words of a poem from memory or coming up with delightfully fractured (think Consequences) versions of famous texts
    Well worth paying for!

  • *Accessibility*Problem* - Why is there no landscape option...

Why, oh why is there no landscape display option for this game, the mode I can use to play games on my iPad⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
    Developer:
As a humanitarian gesture, please update accordingly, let me know, and I’ll happily write a complete game review after reinstalling this app. Meanwhile, I just wasted my money on an app I can’t use. ☹️☹️☹️

Thank-you for bringing this need to my attention. Could you provide a bit more detail in your review on why portrait mode doesn't work for you? I can imagine, for example, that your device is permanently mounted in a landscape orientation. I'd like to have a better understanding of your accessibility requirements. Please understand that adding a landscape layout to the game is a *huge* undertaking for a game that was designed exclusively for portrait mode from the outset, but I'll see what can be done about adding a landscape option. Best regards, Greg
  • So Fun!

As an English major with a love of Mad Libs and silly jokes, this game couldn’t be more up my alley. I can quiz myself on classic texts, read and remember things I haven’t read in a long time, and let my kids play along with me and learn some of these texts. Plus, I can make up silly versions and then read them aloud in funny voices until my daughters roll their eyes at me and that’s worth the price of the game all on its own.

I would love to see some more classic children’s lit (Anne of Green Gables, Secret Garden, Black Beauty, Treasure Island, etc.) and maybe some really tough challenges (a little Gertrude Stein?) It would also be cool to play with more plays than just Shakespeare’s. Marlowe, Shaw, Chekov, Ibsen, Strindberg—all would be great!

    Thanks for the great game!

  • A novel word game involving famous texts.

How fun! I have done about 10 of these so far. They start easy. It is very satisfying to discover that I do remember some of the Shakespeare I used to memorize because I was so in awe of him. But then they start to get harder. But it’s okay because even the “wrong” answers are fun. I just go back and redo until I’m satisfied with my percentage of “right” answers. There are a whole bunch of achievements to work toward, including things like getting every answer “wrong”, which I suspect is hard to do.
I love word games but sometimes I get tired of the same sorts of games showing up in the apple store. What a rare and pleasant surprise to find one that is unlike any other that I’ve found.

Your review just made my day! Thank-you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about WordWhile. You've probably realized this but I wanted to point out that you can set your "playlist" of texts in the "Choose & Peruse" section. For example, if you wanted to focus on the achievements for texts in "Pickin's from Dickens" ("Dabbling in Dickens", "Please, sir, more speed!", "It was the beat of tines", "Snacks everywhere", "Hope, Joy, Youth, Peace"), you could check just that collection. I'm glad you like the "wrong" or "Novel" answers. The ones in Silly mode are certainly meant to be fun. If you decide to give playing for maximum Novelty a try, be sure to replay the same text several times as there are often as many as 10 different Novel answers for every missing word. Some of the combinations are especially funny, if I say so myself. Again, I can't tell you how much it means to me to read your review. Thank-you and enjoy discovering the other texts. All the best, Greg
