Awful

What a palaver, when all you need to know is whether a cheque has cleared. Dreadful.

QR code

My App no longer works. Is now simply asking for a QR code instead of generating a number as it usually does. No QR code ever appears. Never seen this before and seemingly no way around it.
Was always far harder to log on here than my personal bank account anyway. Now it’s impossible. CAF, sort it.
Remember many who use CAF are already volunteers for organisations. Using the online banking is painful.

Stops working with every upgrade

This app is a nightmare! It stops working every time there is an upgrade and it’s no end of hassle to get it sorted. I’m going to stop using it and use another method instead.

App upgrades?

The app is just another security level for logging in and approving payments when it could be a far more useful banking app for charities.

With more and more branch closures of HSBC bank, or just removal of counter service, is there any chance of CAF upgrading the app to include the option to pay in cheques by scanning the cheque instead of having to post them? Other banking apps offer this.

Please improve

Sadly no upgrades to this app recently. Other reviewers have suggested switching to a numeric keyboard when appropriate and relabelling, but no joy 14 months plus later.

The whole authorisation process is hugely time-consuming when there are multiple payments. The whole process needs re-engineering with customer input.

Useless system

The new system does not recognise the codes it generates. I now have to phone CAF Bank every time I need to authorise a payment so that they can reset the system at their end. I then have to reinstall the app. Do not use CAF Bank or their app would be my recommendation. If I could give it zero stars I would

Wastes a lot of time

Authorising Payment’s takes 20 minutes instead of 5 minutes with this new layer of security. Each payment to be authorised needs you to re-enter your ID, enter the amount and generate a new code. For weekly invoicing there will always be multiple invoices so this is a complete waste of our time.

WARNING!

Do not download this app if you have more than one entity with a CAFBank account!

I did, and it worked fine - for the first entity. Albeit will be another time-waster and yet another PIN to remember over and above your existing CAFBank logins. But when I tried to log in to our second entity, it wanted me to download the app and scan a QR code again. And there seems no way to add a second entity to the app.

I have queried this urgently with CAFBank, but for anyone in the same position I suggest you hold off until they have resolved, or use the text option. I will add a further review if I get any kind of a sensible answer.

Setup problem on iPad

On installing it asks to scan Qr code. ?.? No details of what you need to scan!
Asks for permission to use camera. This gives blank screen and blue and blue and white cross.
FAQs link just opens CAF login screen.
Pants!
Works ok on phone - but even then it is has not been a very user friendly designed app. Would use the txt on phone option, but even that did not work properly and locked me out of system, so had to call CAF to reset.
More pants!

Dismal implementation of 2FA

This is a very poor implementation - for second authorisation of a payment which has been set up, it is necessary to switch to the app, enter your PIN, then enter the last 4 digits of the payee account number, and the amount.

Really? This might be appropriate when setting up a new payee, but for second authorisation of a payment? Especially when doing the authorisation via SMS just requires you to click the authorise button and then enter the OTP sent to you. Makes it a real pain to authorise a string of expense payments.

And on that point, why isn’t the feature in iOS autopopulating the received SMS?

Can’t you make use of TouchID or FaceID to allow biometric 2FA?

If you have to authorise payments, stick with SMS. A pain, but not as much as via this app.
