Description of CBP ROAM

The official CBP ROAM App (formerly OARS) from U.S. Customs and Border Protection allows pleasure boaters and other eligible travelers who arrive at remote locations to report their arrival online. In addition to submitting a report of arrival, pleasure boaters who are not currently enrolled in a Trusted Traveler Program, Local Boater Option, or I-68 program who are currently required to report in person may be eligible for a video inspection. Disclaimer: This is a pilot version only for use in limited areas. Contact your local Port of Entry for guidance. Create a trip by adding travelers, your mode of travel, your location, and contact information. After you submit a trip, you may receive a push notification on your device to start a video chat with a CBP Officer to finish reporting your entry into the United States.

Reviews of CBP ROAM

I’m impressed …

At just how stupid this app is. I’m coming in on a commercial flight and want to report my pending arrival. The app won’t let me report unless I give the pilot’s name and information. Now, just how many passengers on a commercial airliner know the name and immigration information of the pilot? BUT the app won’t let you report without it. Oh, well, that’s helpful. They want to know the flight number. My flight number has a letter in it, but the app doesn’t let you put letters in. They want to know the tail number of the aircraft. How the heck do I know? I’m sitting in a hotel or in the terminal or on the plane! Obviously this app was only made for illegals to break into the country with the government’s blessing, not for citizens.

Crashes constantly

Since installing IOS 18 it crashes when trying to enter a change of port of call. Great when the app works.

Worthless!

One-time verification codes never worked. Rebooted multiple times and tried about 12 times total, but it never worked. Called CBP, but they were no help. Had to travel an extra
1-1/2 hours (and considerable gas burned)
because the CBP ROAM system didn’t work - very frustrating!
